SFV Lounge: No News after the grass, 10K POWERRRRRRR

Just think of how wide the eyes of the young Doctrine Dark’s were when he saw Ryu and Cyclops shaking hands on the X-Men Vs Street Fighter cabinet.

My dreams were complete at that moment.

Funny thing is there was a move list in a Game Informer I read that had outlined the moves in the game. Saw this months before actually seeing the game. Thought it was fake as hell because there were no screenshots. The only Street Fighter I had played was 2. Hadn’t even seen the Alpha series yet. Played X-Men COTA and Marvel Super Heroes. There are a few games that had the biggest impact on me as a kid. X-Men Vs Street Fighter was one of them.

Yup the Vs series magic is the cross over.

Capcom spawned a whole genre with that… I dare say you might not see a smash brothers without an X men vs street fighter.

Capcom vs capcom would be cool. But it should just be a capcom all star fighter. That’s easy enough to consistently change update and create something new and unique off.

The vs series should always be capcom vs whoever.

Even if they pulled a blazblu and did like a game called Vs and it was like capcom, tekken, and marvel. or capcom, GG and blaz.

I remember when I 1st heard “THIS IS X MEN VS STREET FIGHTER”

The feeling was surreal for someone who was a huge fan of both.

When people talk about a Capcom only crossover, I don’t think those people are omitting Marvel for the sake of doing it. What they’ve seen is how their presence alone can literally make or break the future of the game. This isn’t the Marvel from the 90’s/00’s that handed out the license to anyone and just let them do whatever. They’re way more hands on with things, and expect stuff to be handled a very certain way. I understand the caution.

Having said that, I’d choose MVC4 done properly any day of the week because I love the series in general.

You’re allowed to wear a mask if you end up on stream right

…at least, not seeing anything against that in Combo Breaker’s ruleset

Wear a mask of your avatar.

I have to imagine so SonicFox and that Japanese Vega player wears one all the time.

Was thinking of this one

Idk, Vatista and Yukiko alone got me to enjoy BBTAG, as messy as it is. If SFV gives me a zoner that I actually find fun, or a footsie character than can consistently convert off pokes (and isn’t Karin), I’ll be happy.

A yusuke mask?

Was gonna go with the Keaton Mask from Legend of Zelda but I don’t think any replica would have eyeholes reasonable enough

You only need eyeholes if you care what your opponent does.

I tried to find a fenneko mask and failed.

Bro nobody was okay with morrigan being copied and pasted into the game lol, people definitely complained but it wouldn’t make a difference in those days

The problem is that complaining about animations is complaining about the cost saving parts that 3D offers fighting games. Pretty sure Tekken has been reusing animations for a while. They just update the model and call it a day.

Models being ugly? Fair issue to have. But proton beam not having a super fancy new animation? Trash complaint. Even more so when Capcom delivered more hit games with the same assets than NRS has making new ones.

Why would you want to do that?

I’m a little confused are you defending the copy and pasting aspect of MVCI? They copied and pasted models and animations while a lot of them were downgraded like penance stare for example. I’m aware other franchises have done similar but it isn’t okay when we still have to pay full price.

Because EVERY FG franchise ultimately copy and pastes because it’s just inefficient not to.

It’s always smart to use what you already have when appropriate.

When it’s done well, no one even notices. But when it’s handled badly…

I was already a huge fan of the xmen cartoon as a kid and streetfighter 2 was my first SNES game so could you imagine the hype when I saw a pickup truck bring the Xmen vs streetfighter arcade cab to my dad’s arcade? I definitely annoyed the hell outta my dad for quarters😂
