But I think the older players are a little better at accpeting a new character than 09ers. Not every game is going to have a character that plays exactly like you want but you can still find stuff.

The lack of mutants/Doom was a pretty big omission, though. When the majority of posts are saying “Where’s Wolverine”, you know there’s an issue. Still, you can’t have both a bad looking game and a bad roster.
Also stupid shit like 1/2 of the game’s antagonists being DLC.

The game not having mutants, ugly as hell character models (majority of them) copy and paste roster, really weak gameplay, combofiend calling demanded characters " functions" and the worst part was the timing… these dudes really tried to compete with Dragonball Z
My personal experience with the game.
While I only got to play it for the first time very recently, I was shocked at how poor the game felt to play. Maybe this is a side effect of the horrible graphics, but the game felt like playing putty, or underwater.
If I cared more I could press on and deal with it, but I had the thought, “if this is what a lot of people felt when they first played it, no wonder it failed”.
Also speaking of the models why were some of them so inconsistent? Spiderman had WIDE shoulders, Chris redfield and Frank were UGLY but sigma’s model was beautiful along with venom.

Interesting because it’s one of the smoothest mvc games I’ve played.
Mvci was doomed before release if you ask me, having no X-men and a bland ass roster killed it, look for no other reason.

No FFVII is shit, was shit and will always be shit, FFIV,V and VI (especially VI) are in every point better than VII. Heck VIII and IX are by miles better.

Anecdote, but about 4 other of my friends tried it at the same time (gamepass) and all had the same opinion. They were surprised I thought so too because I’m the marvel guy. MvC3 still plays fine. (Note: at least 2 of them do know fighting games) shrug
I know that if that was what most people thought… that would hurt. Especially since they had that shitty demo. It’s kinda like what happened with Anthem, they had a “suspect” product… and then released a demo/early launch. So by the time the real thing came out Everyone already knew where they stood on it, or there was too much bad press.
We really gon’ say that when we saw the same Morrigan sprite a million times over in the 90s?

That’s another reason why Capcom would be better off ditching Marvel and just do a Capcom vs Capcom game in the future. You can’t support a franchise where you don’t even own half of its iconic cast and other companies have a say in who should get in the roster and who should be excluded.

Now I don’t like FF VII, but putting VIII above it is a stretch.
But it’s honestly comparing shit with shit. These are my least favorite FF titles with the XIII trilogy.

People can have their Capcom vs Capcom if they want, but it should be something alongside Marvel. Not trading one for the other.
The magic of VS games is the collab. If Capcom vs SNK was just Capcom it wouldn’t be the same. If Tatsunoko vs Capcom was just Tatsunoko it wouldn’t be the same. The magic is in the crossovers and the fight to make the crossovers work. With knowing that someone may be omitted. Just the reality of things.
Anyone who just says they should just stop trying to VS Marvel and just do all Capcom did not understand how crazy Xmen vs SF hitting the arcades was back in that time. Not to mention Marvel 2/3 allowing things like Psylocke vs Strider or Deadpool vs Dante.
There was no bigger hype than the rumors that Magneto, Sentinel and Storm weren’t going to be able to make Marvel 3 and then they were able to make it any way. That shit was wild. Same with Strider hitting Ultimate when it was said he wouldn’t be able to. That magic you only get with Marvel.
