SFV Lounge: Menat BUFFED, F2P SFV coming, CCCC COMBO BREAKERS coming

On the flip side, you can see players like Smug having the time of his life and feeling himself whenever he does something dope. He didn’t get into Capcom Cup this year and I’m not even sure he’s won that many majors this year, yet he still feels good and people still love watching him play. Where’s all this confidence and positive vibes coming from if he didn’t make it through a sea of Cammy’s and Ibuki’s to take home 250K?

Players don’t have to default to sadlife over an L or noticing you don’t have 100000+ LP or are not getting top 8s left and right. People can still aim for that while not constantly bringing themselves (and the vibe of other people who watch and read this stuff) down.

Rank is toxic for people with thin skin.

I will say this, if you can do well in sf5, you can probably play any fighting game out now.

where do you get your sf4 numbers from?

Nah, if you cancel the overhead move from something most of the times you can still jab her out of it. VT2 has high damage potential but still relies on most people having no idea of what that thing does.

I don’t care what anyone says, as of now.

I don’t want a 4.5 patch.

This is by far the most balanced version of SF5 that we have had IMO. Please god, don’t let them fuck it up again.

The only noteworthy buff Trigger 2 got was a reduction to two bars. The other buff just makes it slightly less negative on block but you can still walk forward and hit a heavy button to punish.

So basically the way Trigger 2 works and what it does is still the same. In fact as soon as it’s active it’s actually worse than before because they reduced the timer and comboing off overhead is more strict.

As I keep saying: she always could do those fancy Trigger 2 combos and resets. It’s just that nobodoy noticed.

Another buff was that crMP and fHP have 5 additional frames where you can cancel the move into V-Trigger 2, making the hit confirm simpler. In general they tried to make V-Trigger 2’s activation safer and also easier to do.

Why do you think I rounded the costs up to 400k from 200-250k?

The reason SFIV was made with 3D models was specifically to save more money because sprites are too expensive.

Edit: I’ve been telling y’all that VT2 had some good shit from day 1. But nooooooo, it’s Volt, he doesn’t know shit, he’s Ultra Plastic.

A single character doesn’t cost millions to make, jesus.

Wouldn’t a 4.5 patch be months away? I think that’s enough time to see what needs fixing.

There are certain characters that I still think are dumb and there are also characters that probably/do need buffs that didn’t get them. It’s interesting because 4.0 actually seem like a smal mid season patch in a few cases.

I also think Bison was over buffed. But I’m willing to see how he plays out.

Sad T_T At least she got more more than Juri.

If Capcom wants money, then I agree that making characters free could be beneficial. You can’t underestimate the large number of casuals that just like to play around with aesthetics. People who are not core or simply don’t have the dexterity to play fighting games, but are satisfied with going through story campaign, buying different costumes for their favorite characters. That’s easy money for Capcom.

Ha, joke’s on you… Oh you already said that. But yeah, you should try getting some of the best concept costumes made since Capcom will never make them.

It’s more likely that we’re getting more costumes to milk the fanbase a bit more than characters

He was right about costumes are coming but cannot get the right costume. He predicted nostalgia costumes and capcom franchise costumes but Capcom release sports costumes which are nowhere his radar.

and he was right by obvious upcoming costumes guesses using pattern of release like.

if Shadow Nash was release therefore he guesses Mech Zangief which are both part of MvSF secret characters.

Summary

Edgelord Sakura is coming

Yet most of his correct were lucky guesses and a bunch of wrongs especially with the stages, character and game modes that resulted for him to deactivate all his previous social media account and even start a brand new twitter page…

I still believe we would get brand new costumes, that’s for sure, but as for characters, stage and mode I hope we still do get some stuff.

Possible Dime level post incoming. You fuckers posted a ton overnight.

I get where Akhos is coming from. Maybe overly intense in execution but I get it. I sort of had the same thing going on where I was always either the best or near best player in my local group and you realize the pros are light years ahead of that, but you are still pretty good. Then you get ego checked - either online or by travelling - and the harsh reality comes to light. Shit burns.

I think from there it is a matter of degree. Akhos has the drive and desire to shoot really high, which is great, but the tradeoff is when you’re holding yourself to those standards you can beat yourself up a lot (which he does). And it is easy to keep measuring yourself that way because the internet gives you infinity opportunities to keep comparing yourself to players that are better or doing better than you.

We each self-motivate differently though. I’ve had a lot of troubles with this game over the past couple of years as I’ve tried to apply myself. Ups and downs and back arounds, same woe is me moments and “jesus fuck I’m trash I’ll never get out of bronze/silver/gold league” crisis. Individual games where I felt like the literal worst player in the world (despite Volt being right over there to give me reassurance) and days where it felt like I just booted the game up and mashed my face on the stick for all the good it did me.

What got/gets me through that is sort of what Highland talked about: remembering that it is all relative. General life reassurances aren’t super helpful right now due to marriage and work issues, but even reminding myself how far I’ve come in SF5 helps a lot.

Yeah I have shit days where I’m a noob idiot but I’m still playing way the fuck better than I was 12 months, 6 months, or even 1 month ago (that is mostly due to the turbo lounges, which I am a fan of). Maybe today isn’t the day the light finally hits my brain and I learn/remember that key thing but eventually it will happen. Just gotta keep a it and learn from the lumps along the way.

The other bit of HIghland’s advice is on point: stand by your wo/man. Most SF5 characters have to contend with at least one flaw in their kit (apparently not if you have a wicked neckbeard) so switching characters to address one set of issues usually just opens up another. Sometimes that is fine if one set of issues bugs you a lot less than the other, if the character “clicks” better, etc, but building that character skill back up is time intensive and can be a real bummer if at the end of that process you think “huh this character isn’t really what I want either”.

To borrow a phrase: the problem isn’t too few choices it is too many. If the game had 4 characters in it, it would be easy for any of us to settle on a main and boringly grind away at them until we were fucking wizards with them. But when the character select screen is now up to 35 characters it is really easy to have wandering eyes. Especially when you have so many variants on the archetypes now.

Anecdotally, and I don’t think this is Akhos’ problem but I’m on this track so here we go, I see a lot of this in the Gold ranks. It is a grind to get anywhere and what you see a lot of are players with thousands of matches logged but no progress. If you scroll through their match history you’ll see them bouncing between 3-5 different characters. It is a lot easier/more fun to play a different character than it is to focus in on why you are so inconsistent you can’t climb out of Gold and work on the very likely fundamental reasons. “Fuck introspection I’m playing Bison”.

Its why even though the character drives me slightly crazy sometimes I’m still iffy on trying to move off of Laura. Whatever meager skills I do have I’ve built up with her and switching to any other character is super painful because of how clumsy I feel (gets better over time but that is a time of beatings). And I know that even though I have issues with the character my actual problems are general and not something that is going to be fixed with a new character. It is actually going to be a way harder period because instead of working on those fundamental issues I’ll be training up a new character so I’ll be doubly worse.

That said though there is no harm in trying shit out to see what sticks - see: Frost leaving Cody for a couple of weeks on his sexy Kage fling - so I’m still gonna do that with the characters I think might be worth it. Hopefully in SRK lounges; if I’m going to take a beating, I’d prefer to have it be from the bastards I know and not the random bastards online.

Rambly shit. Props to anyone that read it.

Also X-Kira has been right in the same way a broken clock can tell you the correct time of day. Dude shotguns so many guesses out there that he is bound to hit on a few things.

Saying that a 4.5 patch is coming isn’t predicting shit. It is basic pattern recognition.

I predict this year we will get a costume bundle that is CPT related. It will have 3 costumes and a new stage. Also includes bonus FM challenges.

I can also say with confidence that this season we will get 8 characters. Kage was the first. The other 7 will be, in no particular order: Dan, Mummy Commando, Makoto, Rose, Dudley, Dudley’s Butler, and C. Viper.

Am I Swordfishing my way through Capcom’s servers? Or do I just really want EH articles written about me and realize that people aren’t too particular about their facts on the internet?

He really wasn’t though.

The change to his V-skill is a berf if I ever saw one. Like for example, Birdie’s chain is considered a physical attack instead of a projectile, and in this situation our parry suffers. We also lose the projectile store in many circumstances.

The rest is inconsequential.

The change to Ex Blast for example, no one was contesting that shit. Yes, there is a sequence in VT1 that can life more hellish for opponents, but it’s too situational to be considered a buff. Especially when you consider the required resources.

The change to the juggle properties to ensure that EX SK always plays out the full animation/attack is a buff, but it is a fix first and foremost.

VT2 Psycho Crusher projectile invincibility is a buff/fix, but thematically correct. I understand why they did it. Too situational for it to actually have an impact.

The rest are all nerfs.

The real buff Bison got is that he was left more or less unchanged (while everyone around him did) - which was what a lot of us were hoping for because he was in a good place. “Annoying to deal with” does not equate being overpowered.

I think he will likely settle in the number 5-7 positions. Fair game.

Just a reminder, dataminers are not leakers.

They don’t know shit about when stuff is coming out. They know about real stuff being added to the game which may or may not even be used.

If y’all don’t even get confirmation from either you or someone trustworthy busting open files to prove any dataminer isn’t talking out of his ass, you’re in for hype crashes.

if you believe a dataminer known for being unable to predict shit and rampantly guessing, you’re a dumbass. Stop drinking that Eventscrubs kool-aid.

Also, regarding the whole to main or to not main debate, You can have up to 2 mains as long as they form a core that cover each other’s bad MUs. Living in a permanent character crisis is not ok. And honestly, sometimes you do need to switch.

He even claim lately that he isn’t datamining anymore since 2017, Now he is a hacker since 2017 lol, He hack Capcom QA servers lol.

Another thing that made this shady is his working with SFV modders lol

according to the article

The type of hack that X-Kira does is called “data mining”, which is to break down the game codes behind these new features. “I do not just look at the game code, I have access to the Capcom server, the ‘master server’, which they call QA (Quality Assurance), where future news is tested first,” said the hacker. “It may be on PS4 or PC, the server shows me everything that is in the game, so I have an exact information.”
