Just looked at all the frames. It’s basically all over the place with punishability.
Lvl 2 is -3
Lvl 3 and v trigger is -2
Ex is -2
All versions have 7-9 actives so someone as tall as Sagat might get g to be at his worst frame advantage possible (-5) whereas if crouch blocked he will probably be less punishable (maybe).
So if you guys remember I posted about having trouble canceling akumas st.mk into light tatsu, only was able to do it 4/10 times. Well it turns out it was my dpad being too new and stiff that was the problem, as soon as I use my old ds4 controller I can land it consistently.
Rashid is a lot easier after being able to run from the corner for 180 damage (unless they can AA with normal into combo, most people don’t).
Played against a Chun (which rage quit after taunting) and noticed that Akuma’s fireball nerf. You get hit during the startup pretty often…almost reminded me of Ruy vs Dictator battles.
That is the worst nerf he got I think, it makes it harder to fight some characters and even worse, it makes the character less exciting (for me atleast) as i love throwing fireballs.
@MochaLatte Good video, but you got one thing wrong
Ken has been able to do VTII -> HP DP on a grounded opponent since the start of Season 3. You can do it in Ken’s Vol. 3 Trial #3 if you don’t believe me.
What IS new and I’m surprised you didn’t mention is that you can do VTII -> EX Tatsu now even if they’re grounded which of course gives you more damage and nice corner carry. If you use it raw to punish a fireball that’s 324 damage and 380 stun.
Anyway I’m sorry for being one of the many garbage scrub Kens complaining that he got nerfed please forgive me
FYI Karin cr.mk xxTenko ohc is easy af, it’s a late cancel, that’s the first thing a competent Karin player should learn. Tokido with Akuma st.mk use a simple Punk trick, specific blockstring to whiff punish easily every button the opponent decide to press. Obviously most of the people here knows all of that, but just a clarification for the youngsters
I don’t think the issue is just the lack of defensive options, the V-System itself is a mess.
VR’s just aren’t that great and people just don’t bother when they can just wait for the VT and go ham.
There’s really no alternative to VT cheese at all in most cases. Imagine if you had “EX VS’” that could reasonably present an option to just throwing out VT?
For example, giving Menat her teleport VR or G his VS Fireball on demand at the cost of one V-Bar would give these characters reasonable options to use V-Bar outside of VT.
Speaking of G, I tried him out yesterday as part of scouting the field for other character options. Dude is pretty fun. The damage is awesome. Shitty walkspeed and bad defense may not be that bad coming from Laura but I need matches to figure that out. At least he seems to have good to great AA options. I understand more why some Laura mains switched to him.
It’s funny. I never really cared to play Ibuki at any point ever, yet watching SFV Ibuki just makes me want to start labbing her for fun. The shuriken mixups in particular are sexy. A lot of dudes I know hate SFV Ibuki compared to her SF3/SF4 iterations, but I feel the opposite.
The more you play him yall realize he ain’t an easy character to pick up and play. Him being a tall character you are free to some jump in’s… So niggas are going to keep jumping!
His neutral whiff punishing tools st.lp cr.lp s.lk cr.mp st.hp Buffer into Ex smash over. Corner carry and your opponent has to guess.
Characters like Ken and Rashid give him alot of trouble tho…
Went back to Sagat cuz that solid foundation of a DP and fireball is needed in my life.
