SFV Lounge: Menat BUFFED, F2P SFV coming, CCCC COMBO BREAKERS coming

steamcharts still worked propperly during that time and it sold next to nothing. as capcom always said its one game so there will be no extra entry for the arcade update. the ae update didnt do much to increase the playerpool. i am looking forward to a new version too, alone because this time they will for sure take theire time to release a finished product with a hopefully solid netcode. mvci shows that they seem to be capable of doing so.

I’m indifferent towards it after playing for a bit. It’s technically more balanced, but I still feel the same restrictions/not much has changed in terms of my character being allowed to run offense or defense, so it’s not that exciting. I’ve said since the game’s release that this is the most watered down SF and outside of some VT nonsense, it still feels that way.

Also I got baited by the trailer thinking they gave Vega his ST move back (which would’ve made me hype if that’s how they really did new moves), but instead it’s an extension of another move/combo extender.

Good neutral and round stealing = birdie.

You use her forward moving specials/normals, fish with cr.MK xx LP Bolt, or dash a bunch. Then get really sad when all that either gets stuffed or you get punted to the other side of the screen again by something like EX Flash Kick.

@Akhos I feel your pain brother.

I have been doing the same dance every couple of months and I’m going through it all over again now that I’m taking a serious look at the characters post S4 patch.

FWIW Ken has seemed to click the best with you out of anything I’ve seen you play and he is as close as you are going to get to checking all your boxes.

I think playing Menat on the side could be good but I personally don’t find her to be a side character - she is zero fun to play if you aren’t really on point with your AA’s and movement checks and her VT1 is still key to her game so you need to be practiced up on that. I think Falke is much more of a side character with that kind of style and a higher floor/lower ceiling so you don’t need to dump as much time in with her.

There is always the chance that another character comes along during the season that is a perfect fit but in my experience waiting for that is madness. I did that for all of S3 and every character release was a brief wave of “maybe!” followed by “eh maybe not”. I think it is better to pick something now and dedicate yourself to that and if some miracle char happens to show up in the coming year, great.

I know at least I’ll have a lot of character debating happening in the coming weeks/months and I’ll need plenty of games to figure shit out. Feel free to try out whatever in our sets as well. Only way to know is to play.

I do agree with you, SFV can be fun but it never clicked with me either, not as much as i would like for a SF title.

I am ready for SF6 as well but we won’t be seeing it anytime soon i think. I think SF5 has at least 2 more years of content down the line and who knows if Capcom even wants SF6 to happen right after it.

If they do want the eSports scene to stay strong ,then the right move would be for them to release SF6 quite fast after SF5 support has been cut,but who knows really with Capcom.

So, upgraded the internet to 150/12, hoping that online will work better.
How do you find people to play against? I mostly play ranked and whenever I try to find a lobby, it’s either full or populated with low tier players.

SF4 comes out after an almost 10yrs hiatus and on 3 different platforms, the hype was real, after so many time of nothing new a success was more than expected. SF3 overall was unlucky because was out during the PS1 debut era and the game wasn’t there until 2004 + the 3D fgs were looking like the future at the time, you know that. Even with all the praises he’s getting nowadays, SF4 is a dead game while 3s is still played way more than his successor. Like SF3, SFV comes out under exclusive release and with a lot of different choices about gameplay and everything else around the game itself. S4 will be probably the most important season of the game because maybe finally we reached an almost perfect balanced game and the next lineup needs to have smash hits characters in it to keep people playing.

Overall I don’t feel the need for SF6 anytime soon, the lifecycle goal line of SFV could be delayed by Capcom, they’ve already changed their minds about business moves related to it, I don’t see them working already on the next chapter after releasing the game on cabs just few months ago. My judgement over SFV is influenced by bias about Makoto for sure, but atm I can only hope for better from now on and that means everything previous wasn’t enough for me to fully enjoy it.

I want sfv to last as long as possible so my 09er friends can remain salty and hating. Lol.

Looking back from different fighting game and other game genre in the past and current recycling asset something that is not new to everyone. We just see it usually in crossover games.

What if Capcom would surprise everyone? Like…

  • What if SF6 is using mostly SF5 resources and assets from characters and stages but with new mechanics instead of being a expansion? Is that okay or no?

  • Would you prefer it to be mostly played the same way? Or be mostly played differently?

  • What things that you want to retain from SFV to be part of SF6?

  • What things from other SF games like 3S, SF4 and etc you want to return to SF6?

Keep the 3 frame buffer. 1 frame links can fuck right off.

I’d like the beautiful stages from SF3 to return to SF6.
I want the Arcade Mode from SF4 to return to SF6.

@Akhos I feel you. I’ve disliked how most of the cast has played for a long time now. Didn’t like the design philosophy of giving characters obvious drawbacks and not making them strong without VTs.

Speaking of which: have you tried s4 Ryu yet? First time I’ve had fun with a character in this game yet, he’s got a great set of tools to bully people with and blow up stupid stuff.
By your description Rashid and Akuma might also be good picks.

Low key they buffed Urien’s VT2 and its bullshit factor is one of the strongest. Aint sayin its stronger then Aegis but for 2bars its up there.

Falke doesn’t have a Felicia outfit, far inferior outfits as a whole and doesn’t have disjointed hitboxes on her normals

I’m afraid that can’t work

I did, he still feels off. His normals are ridiculously stubby and his walkspeed is slower than I’d like on a character with that short range. Better fireball doesn’t quite make up for that for me.

Tried Rashid and Akuma but I don’t like either of them

It’s annoying 'cause in literally every other fighting game I’ve tried not named KOF I can find characters I like right off the bat

Smash - Link/Young Link/Dark Pit
SF4 - Cody
SF x TK - Cody/Heihachi (though as I played I eventually switched to Elena/Abel just before I stopped playing)
Soul Calibur V - Z.W.E.I
Soul Valibur VI - Groh
Tekken - Lee Chaolan
MvC3 - Zero/Felicia/Phoenix Wright (terrible team but I liked the characters so whatever)
Blazblue - Kokonoe
Guilty Gear - Ky Kiske/Dizzy
Injustice - Green Arrow

Yet in SFV I go into character crisis mode constantly. And looking at the above list doesn’t help me 'cause I go all over the place depending on the game XP

It’s funny you say this because EH of all places made an article where the dug up pre SF4 posts of people hating on Alpha/Marvel2/SF3 that mostly read like posts from the launch of SFV.

New game same shit

When’s SF6?

Yeah, I’ve had similar experiences. It feels really weird when you usually find someone that clicks easily, but nothing works out in a game you actually want to play. Both SFIV and SFV were like that for my part.

I can generally just pick shotos and be fine. Which was a problem in SFV until S4 because nobody really felt like a shoto.

I like the block stun and general feeling of hitting people in this game. I hope that stays in some capacity. I can play SF5.6 but I’m fine with moving on as well.

I’m not in a hurry though.

Number one lesson in moving on to the next SF game: Don’t get too attached to the things you liked in the previous SF game.

Good thing I didn’t get attached to anything in sfv lol. I’m just glad every sf goes in a different direction for the next numbered game in the series. I’ll probably be playing bbtag til the next sf comes out. Hopefully the new samsho game can be a good secondary game for me if the new sf wont be here anytime soon.
