SFV Lounge: Menat BUFFED, F2P SFV coming, CCCC COMBO BREAKERS coming

I heard they supposedly stopped allowing the FM building from the ads so may have something to do with that.

That the AD campaign is now over and they will be started a new one in a few days.
So no more extra 4FM for having stupid ADs during the loading screens for now.

Yeah, and this is basically why I’ve accepted I’ll probably never be good at this game

Probably also why you should keep Menat around since she’s the best character at being passive and still being able to win the match.

For whatever reason every Laura player on SRK is really passive also. I have to go on ranked to get the nice aggressive Lauras.

Fret not. You are still better than me at this SFV mess at the very least.
I hope Gief buffs will hold me through S4 or I am completely screwed up.

This is good as I remember Cody was pretty underwhelming for you before. You and Frost finally get the Codys you truly deserve (and Akhos probably still hates the new Cody). I know you like those knife buffs.

Yeah I wouldn’t stress too much about the Falke thing. Seems like one way or another you got a real Gief again so can take your time with it all. If it wasn’t for Gief becoming Grief you probably wouldn’t have picked up Falke in the first place.

I mean he’ll always be Grief, but at least he can give others grief again.

Its weird cause Cody would 100% player the game that he is trying to play better than Ken. If He wants to just counter poke or whiff Punish, then Cody does that much better than Ken, i would also recommend Karin ofcourse.

Thing is, for some reason i feel like people mistake passive play as smart play. The two aren’t really the same thing.

What i love the most about new Cody is the walk speed. It is so much easier to move around, i am finally able to walk under jumps and punish and EX tornado is an excellent neutral tool.

I honestly think that Cody could possibly have top 5 " neutral game " in the game.

Decent walk, great move to beat anything reactionary, good counter pokes, great whiff punishers, decent enough fireball , fast forward moving special , Decent block punish ability , Very good anti-airs when spaced right. Decent low game cuz of sweep and some YOLO LK Ruffians to keep them honest.

His main issues were getting in on zoning which is easier now with the 3 hits durable, slow tornado, which is a very welcome help. The other is his anti-air which wasn’t really touched, but it is much easier to play around it, now that he can position himself better.

All around, pretty good stuff, can’t ask for more…Well, i can ask for a better back walk and a 3F. But Cody certainly is a much stronger character now.

I’ve definitely conflated the two. Likewise with aggression and reckless play. I feel like I’m slowly starting to get it the more I play and the more feedback I get, but emphasis on slowly.

Also @Akhos I’m gonna need to rain check Seasons Beatings. Had a buddy get a hold of me who I have barely seen since he had his son. I’ll be around over the weekend so we can probably get games in then. Until then just imagine that you Thunder Kicked me 40-100 times and it’ll be pretty close to what would have happened if we had played. :wink:

When I was messing around with Cody the one thing I loved were his buttons. Pretty much every button has range and some type of utility. His s.LK and sweep especially are pretty crazy for this game. Fireball being more real helps and forward walk also helps.

Between his fireball and VT2 Pipe I can only see Sagat and Guile being any real issue for him pew pew/zoning wise anymore. VT2 pretty much forces the opponent to throw a traditional projectile plan out the window any way. With Falke specifically her projectile game is more anti zoning based than death by papercuts true zoning based so pipe easily gives him more options vs her.

Still, I enjoyed playing Falke thoroughly, and I will keep trying to make her work on the PS4 account, but it seems that my fate in S4 is to return to where it all started around 27th of December, 1992.

I don’t think he can reflect a low shot, and air shot will shoot downwards.

She probably can stop him from doing any bean balls into swings. It have a slow startup and she can pretty likely interrupt that. I only played the MU once vs a Falke GM and i beat him easily 2-1. He took a round cause i ran into too many DPs in round 1 but i think he would do well vs her.

Any character with a fast forward moving special annoys me as Falke, he have the EX zonk and YOLO ruffians to bug the Falke players.

Cody’s back walk is awful, I hate holding buttons for special moves and he doesn’t have an invincible reversal

Yeah it’s not so much that he can reflect any of her stuff, just that the way her fireball game works isn’t really relevant to the type or projectile zoning he actually has trouble dealing with. Her projectile game just stalls at best to set up her real zoning/conversion which is with her buttons.

He’ll definitely do better vs her now that his neutral is more complete and her projectile game isn’t really flood based any way.

EX Zonk doesn’t particularly scare me since it’s pretty slow for an EX move and can be counter poked (on or not on reaction depending on spacing/awareness/what you’re doing). Plus can go for v reversal as long as you block. I’d still rather deal with than Urien’s or Rog’s EX crap.

I am not saying you or Ken sucks. I am saying that for that playstyle, Ken isn’t good at it, at the moment.

You seem like you want to play the Momochi style, but Momochi takes risks to throw off his opponents and he plays Kolin cause she plays that gameplay better.

Maybe play Akuma, at least he have a great st.MK to Whiff punish with.

Seems like a fun matchup, just that i never get to play it since no one plays Falke lmao…or Cody for that sad matter.

Akuma doesn’t have a good poking normal like Ken’s sthk or Menat’s everything

His st.hp is a good poke. Good range, CC’s, and can confirm or buffer into target combo whether opponent is crouching or standing unlike Ryu or Kage’s TC.
