3rd strike looks so good in motion and so much more fluid than sfv.
Just like DJ said its working for me as well… Honestly just learn to confirm into PP, its not being hard to me especially with her light normals buffs /shrug
Punish light only punishable stuff with light into PP, and medium ones with st.MP > cr.HP > KK/ex KK or something else.
This isn’t real SF.
They don’t use low forward fireball and jump.
Jumping in SF is not allowed!
The game is gorgeous, the animations are fluid, the soundtrack is dope, the overall aesthetic is the best in the series and at least one of the best ever for fighting games as a whole
But it’s still nutty as fuck
3S had even better dashes than SFV, but also way better normals to balance it out (well, at least among the upper half of the cast). It’s definitely more playing by intuition than other older SFV titles though.
I swear there are some undocumented changes about Trigger 2 overhead from Falke. I drop the link into st.MP every time. That’s a combo I never dropped before the patch. On paper the frame data is the same but something’s off.
So I had a hilarious nightmare last night. Capcom released the next few characters (Rose, Makoto, Oro, and Gouken) and said they’d be playable immediately. After downloading the update, I immediately went to get them from the shop and then this huge disclaimer came up that said Fight Money could no longer be used to purchase characters. I was highly pissed, but said fuck it and went to get them the ordinary way. Another disclaimer said real currency couldn’t be used after the update as well
Everyone was rightfully pissed, so we waited for the Capcom Unity blog to show up. It eventually did. The reason why Fight Money/real $ couldn’t be used was because they implemented the characters to only be accessible through the long extinct Zeni system. You could only fight them in Arcade Mode. For some reason, the Zeni system was still glitched out in the new update, so Capcom released another update to remove the characters until a later time.
I woke up laughing because of how real it felt.
That wasn’t a nightmare, that was a vision of the terrible future that awaits us.
Various Ken v Falke stuff
There was more I checked on but these were the most obvious
(Also where’s that match feedback for GetTheTables)
Capcom did one of two things with SFV. I’m not sure which. Honestly, both could be true at the same time.
Option 1: They built the majority of the shop system around the idea that Fight Money would be abundant and easily obtainable. That is why there are so many pointless cosmetics available to “buy”, like a ton of titles and profile colors and the like. It is why you have to “buy” Story outfits after unlocking them. At some point they decided to let people get DLC characters for “free”, and shoehorned this into the existing system, which broke the economy. If you take out the ability to buy DLC characters, and boost FM payouts, you end up with a fairly normal fighting game unlock system.
Option 2: Capcom truly has no clue as to how people value purchases.
Its just an animated gif of a person with my CFN on their shirt throwing their copy of SFV in the trash.
“Tables you are just too bad to critique. Time to hang it up buddy.”
There were some unlisted changes. Someone put together a Google doc that combines the listed changes, details for vague changes, and unlisted changes.
With your Ken vs GettheTables I’d say mainly you just need to throw more fireballs in neutral just to occupy him a bit more. He doesn’t charge up Laura fireball at all in neutral which should make it easy for you to kinda pester him in neutral especially early on when he’s low on meter. You probably don’t even need to jump as much as you do in that match since if the Laura player has reactions you’re not going to get a frontal jump without landing in a bad position. Pretty much shouldn’t bother jumping at Laura in the long run unless you are going for a cross up or have super conditioned them.
With Menat I would say you mainly just need to work on your offense more. You can only hit buttons so long vs Laura before she eventually gets in and if you dont have your frame traps and throw game down she’ll just win the life lead game and kill you eventually. Maybe add in some dives and dash up throws just to keep him on guard. Again, he doesn’t use fireball at all in neutral so that should make it easy for you to dictate neutral since that’s about the only real thing she can use in far neutral vs Menat that isn’t some desperate dash in move. Learning to raw activate VT1 will be important vs her also since you’re only going to get one activation and there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to get a hit confirm. I don’t really like Menat’s VT2 and didn’t really seem to do much in those matches.
Thanks, but what about stuff for GetTheTables X3
I actually like Kage a lot. He’s the right about of neutral and UNGA for me.
He plays sf5, marvel and basic streetfighter.
Hopefully the rest of season 4 follows suite
*VT2 JI increased 0->10 meaning it is extremely restrictive what can juggle afterward
- VT2 JS increased 1->10 meaning it is extremely restrictive what can begin a juggle on an airborne opponent
No wonder this “buff” doesnt work properly
Good god capcom
I low key forgot Laura was in this game.
I only had trouble when I mained Boxer in s2 then she got neutered. I almost never run into her anymore. The ones I do fight are extremely aggro. They’re like Alex players always pressing shit and jumping.
You play oddly passive considering your character choice.
Just going by what I find difficult vs Laura that you should implement are more charged fireballs, work on that AA game(if it ain’t a cross up you shouldn’t be able to jump at Laura), get comfortable just walking forward and pressing buttons, work in some regular dash grabs, too many dropped combos. Fixing up your ground game will let you get more jump ins.
Edit: Fyi this was me looking at the ken matchup. Legit don’t think I’ve ever seen menat v Laura to know what to do.
Feedback is appreciated.
I definitely play naturally more passive. One of the reasons why I’m considering a character switch in S4. I’m also trying to play more aggressive in general which is working out so far. There is a certain amount of reckless abandon you need to play either Mika or Laura in this game and I’m not sure if I ultimately have it in me but it is interesting figuring that out.
Those are definitely things I need to work on more. Sometimes my AA game is on point but I don’t think I react well enough with HP bolt to really cover the front jumps and I let the cross ups/near cross ups allow me to second guess st.MP AAs sometimes.
Same reasons why I end up backing off of the fireballs. I throw one predictable fireball with Laura and pay for it and that usually spooks me off that option for awhile (where the answer is more like “don’t be so dumb with your timing”).
The Ken match up is a little rough on the Laura side. His movement speed makes playing the poking game tricky and he has an EX DP so I put the brakes on sometimes to bait it but if I’m wrong the pressure stops for nada. And he has solid punishes anytime the Laura player fucks up.
Which is the one upside to the Menat side (weaker punishes when you get called out for the most part). Fighting her feels like Normandy: just throwing life away until you can make landfall.
There’s nothing on there that would have an impact on how it behaves after hitting a grounded opponent though. But maybe due to all these changes to the move there’s something that slipped past everyone’s radar.
I’m basically the only person on the planet who used Trigger 2 in S3 so it’s kind of impossible to find other feedback about it but I’m 100% sure something’s not as it used to be.
Alex, Laura and Mika are the three characters I’ve observed that consistently play with a controlled fuck it mentality or a whole lot of “idgaf I’m going in” lol.
Edit: Also s4 seems like the perfect time to try out other characters.
