I’m looking forward to seeing how tournaments will look for Season 4.
Thats midscreen. I’m more concerned about her corner pressure…not midscreen.
The one thing i hope this does is separate the tier whores who played Cammy for her tier status from the loyal booty whores who play her for her booty.
Hurricane doesn’t give a shit about the nerfs, his corner game and footsies were already godlike
Matches with @GetTheTables and @DevilJin_01
@HighlandFireball @Frost or anyone else, tear them rightfully to shreds plz
Daigo and Infiltration using Ryu vt2, Sasaki and Justfog using vt1. Fun to see both triggers being used.
Corner pressure you’ll just have to land frame traps more. That’s the same thing Sakura, Chun and most other characters have to do. Welcome to their world. Even Akuma is like a whole character and some length from the opponent after corner throw and his corner pressure is still great.
Threaten the frame trap so they sit on down back and force the throw later on. If you land a bnb you get throw range any way and at that point likely close to stun. If you have strong walk speed you can still enforce the corner well especially with all of Cammy’s plus and confirmable low stuff that leads to a knockdown bnb with easy meaty throw.
Ryu this season has my interest. With Kage to mess around.
Ken wasn’t even considered top 5 in s1, while cammy was. Ken had throw loops back then. On top of the retarded aerial tatsu shit + meterless dp.
Then they nerfed the dp, the lion breaker tc, the throw damage, and the aerial shit
Then they even removed the throw loops, then compensated by putting his throw back to 110 damage
Then finally they brought his throw damage back to 120
Even giving ken his throw loops back, he would still be a significantly weaker version of his former self.
Ken was considered by a lot as top 5 in S1, no idea where you’re getting that mass opinion from. I remember majority of lists went like Chun, Nash, Ryu, Mika, Ken with some mixes including Cammy or Karin.
Looking back on S1, I’d say Ryu wasn’t top 5 and Ken was a pretty solid pick for it.
Okay sure, ken was way powerful back then
Cammy was at least close, without throw loops and before the mountain of buffs she continuously kept receiving in the following patches.
The thoughts on who were top 5 varied between a lot of people. The only character that people were certain was up there (had potential to be the top spot) was Mika and likely Chun-Li (due to what’s given on paper), and the others nearby were hard to formulate together because they were equally strong for the most part.
Ken was one of the exceptions where he didn’t outclass a chunk of characters like the others on top… but he was capable of handling both the top tiers and everyone else in a well-rounded manner for the most part (shotos could be even considered anti-Mika but by a very small margin). The only match-ups that Ken had arguably a rough time were against Claw and Chun-Li (the other top 5ish or so candidate), and even then that was hard to complain over.
I think your point is made though that Ken wasn’t as obstructive like the meta that has shifted towards Season 2 and Season 3, and the fact that he wasn’t a character with a freebie mileage of winning. Characters like Chun-Li, Ken, and Ryu among the top had to at least have their reactions down 100% and made sure their neutral is on point… especially Chun-Li since on paper she feels just as good as Mika, but in practicality there are a couple errors that can happen in an actual match (ie: SFV-maul meta.)
EDIT: Buff Ken ;-;
It’s moot though, throw loops are gone for good
Realistic buffs I want for ken
10 more damage on his throws
maybe make vt2 do some more damage
I’d be happy
Throw loops were bad, involved little thought and were a blanket 50/50 game for character wake-up. Doubt either side loved taking 8 throws in a row, fantastic interaction between players.
Prefer the loop concept characters like Karin now has where she has the microwalk throw available, but it’ll lose to jabs. So you have to force the opponent to want to block before getting access to throw looping.
Btw that HK.Tatsu buff he received fucked max range st.mp xx HK.Tatsu whiff punishes if you haven’t heard, it’s wack.
The hk tatsu buff that allowed for him to do st.mp into heavy tatsu was really just there to slightly compensate for the lionbreaker tc nerf. It was overall just a worse lion breaker at the end of the day
I would want Away Strong-Fierce TC to not dial into itself on whiff and at least help the hitbox/hurtbox ratio of St.Roundhouse a bit (the change felt unnecessary when it already got nerfed more than once).
@Frost He had St.Strong HK Tatsu working even in Season 3 off of CH Low Strong, Stand Strong xx HK Tatsu. I don’t think that is the dealbreaker that makes him a much better character. You either need to have really solid neutral or scummy offensive meta that either is oppressive, which Ken does not seem to have and now it looks like Cammy is on the same boat OUTSIDE of neutral (which is one good thing about her at the very least, but most people will switch out from her by this point when other characters can have both good neutral and be oppressive).
? bmp can’t whiff punish extended limbs, st.mp can. I’m talking purely max range whiff punishing, the HK.Tatsu buff has fucked it up.
I’m talking about the hitbox reduction that allows sthp CC > second hit HK.Tatsu for new max damage route consistently. It has screwed up his long range whiff punisher as a knock-on effect.
Poor Necalli…forever forgotten Lol
Oh word, I haven’t noticed a difference with st.mp hk tatsu, still connects on the whiff punish for me.
Gotta try out that cc combo though
CC combo is fairly easy to get, tried it out in training. Just space sthp anywhere mildly at it’s tip and it should work, didn’t test regular hit but it should make whiff punishing on shit like Gief sthp always give that combo now.
The st.mp drop only happens when you tag an extended hurtbox, gonna happen sporadically and prolly gonna make people drop some games here and there.
