They are still awkard where I am at too. They are mostly self esteem boosters currently because everyone keeps trying to play him pretty much like Akuma but with the two training mode combos they learned.

I very much appreciate that it is hard when you switch chars to get your legs under you. As I continue my grind through the CPT challenge over the weekend I’ll just be grateful I’m doing as well against them as I am.

Not sure how the Laura - Kage match up is gonna be. It seems like a Texas Strap Match where both people have a knife. Actually I guess that is just the music video for Beat It but with VTCs.

Yeah well you been holding that L since last time I was there. You can tell me what it feels like!

Lol, I love that reference! I’m going to have ‘Beat It’ in my head all night… Not that that’s a bad thing!

GGs.

I’ve just always had really good endurance. Whether it be long hiking trips or extended gaming sessions, I just don’t tire out very easily. Would probably work out great in bed too but I’ll never get to test that theory XD

If I’m really into it I can often play a fighter for 6-8 hours straight without issue.

Anywho, some things I’ve noted from both of us during that set:

I can’t play grapplers with a damn no matter how hard I try. They just never walk fast enough or get enough reward for playing at the ranges I prefer, and I’m way too risk-averse to go completely bonkers when I get in which grapplers in this game need. Just don’t have any unga in my blood to make it work.

I remember why I’m always off and on with Menat; I love how she plays overall, but just the fact that she can die so quickly off of one mistake makes her incredibly stressful to play, especially since she can’t punish very hard and needs to smack you around with a bunch of attacks to equate to what some characters can do off of one jump-in or what have you. A product of me being bad, sure, but it’s nice to have a back-up DP and ability to punish stuff.

Which is why I’ve been going back to Ken, he walks fast, punishes people for playing dumb, has a reversal and great reliable anti-airs. Force people to stop playing like cavemen and engage on the ground, which is a lot more fun to work with.

You’ve gotten better at fighting off Ken in neutral, but still suffer badly in the corner. Although, at a certain point that becomes more of a match-up issue than a player one. Along with that your offense has improved, were getting me a lot more when you got in and I often died when you did. It’s just improving your neutral so you get to those points more often. Even if in the Menat match-up you were basically doing all you could, jumping and EX Elbowing to get that one chance you needed XD

I’d also say use more crmk xx LP Elbow. I never felt like walking back was a risk so I’d just hold back whenever I was blocking and walk out of range of whatever you were doing. And getting me to crouch makes it easier to keep your blockstrings up since I won’t be getting out of range of your stubbier pressure normals.

The initial threat of the activation is on par. When it comes to g compared to urien, G’s can be more explosive but once its activated and youre back to neutral, its not as scary to fight against.

So I’m back to making sprites again (currently just flat shading sprites, then I’ll complete them because it just feels faster that way), hopefully I’ll complete them by next year since it’s looking like SFV is looking to be getting nearing its lifespan

You are correct, sfv is nearing its lifespan because super sfv will replace it.

The way I’m seeing Kage so far he’s a character that has a lot of SFV meta stuff and has a decent ceiling for tech. Those type of characters usually end up pretty good in this game. Usually edge lord flashy characters like Kage never end up anything but decent to good. The top 5 characters of last season didn’t have any higher than 950 health so bleeding is irrelevant.

I dunno, US tournaments look to be affected too. I knew this was an issue with evo japan but I basically wrote it off as lol mr wizard. DBFZ is the single most successful game arcsys has ever made, but their hands are gonna be tied by namco bandai/rights holders so they can’t really do shit. I guess its just a wait and see kind of thing for now.

Hey I wanna play highland too! Hit me up when you get to eu.
I’m enjoying playing kage and I believe he has the kit to place really high up in the tier list. If you remove all those twitter setups (which pop up for every character and they almost never lead to anything useful) you’re left with good walk speed, basically a longer st mk in his fireball, crazy whiff punish damage with st hp and good damage overall

I don’t know , as a fireballer, one rando flip kick and you’re back where you thought you just escaped. I mean Urien I feel like you can tell when he’s gona let it rip. G is can just unblockable dash straight into Trigger - corner - gota guess.

Plus with G I’m outa the game as far as DP and Fireballs go. He literally renders your character immobile until that timer is gone. Cant Dp because fireballs, cant fireball because fireballs. At least with Urien , he’s still getting zoned out if he didnt hit me with the trigger and I got out the first Aegis.

Both are bullshit, but I’m gona crown G king of the bullshitters!

every Twitter setup I’ve seen has been legit so far, VT2 setplay is fucking lethal

it’s not like Arc ever had control over it anyway, that’s like saying Dimps found a goldmine within making the SF games. They just got contracted by a publisher and probably haven’t had a say in much post release outside of a contract agreement on post release support.

Sagat does well against Urien for similar reasons that Guile does. Puts plasma on the screen and Urien technically has no real projectile go through move other than V Skilled special. Which Sagat’s rate of fire will not give Urien room to V Skill and all of his other projectile maneuvering shit is only projectile hop over stuff which Sagat can easily AA.

I played a few matches of Sagat vs G and yeah, Falke vs G is a lot better to make it short. G has no choice but to be bullshit though because his defensive options make Alex’s look good and he’s ass until he gets pres levels up.

I mean, when the dust settles we’ll be left with just the good stuff. Even alex had kill sequences when he came out.
Speaking of twitter, I saw a very interesting os you can do with his vt1: Hk tatsu xx back teleport will make it safe on block, and it beats throw techs because it’s airborne like ryu’s

yeah but outside of the kill sequences most of the twit tech has been VT2 meaty setplay, and it’s all super strong. Meaty overhead, meaty stomp, meaty cr.mp, meaty divekick, crossup ex tatsu, -2 demon setups etc.

VT1 setplay sequences are the shit I’m finding useless

Toei only cares about Dragon Ball Heroes , Legends and Xenoverse . especially Heroes since Toei made anime base on the game.
