SFV Lounge: Menat BUFFED, F2P SFV coming, CCCC COMBO BREAKERS coming

That means whatever move they changed should have juggle potential. They did it for Karin’s V skill last season and meant she could juggle her vskill after ex. tenko.

Other games were getting away with it to begin with. It’s not like the genre got an extra influx of FGs with DLC Fighters post-SFV Release. I don’t believe there will be FM in the next SF either, but it’ll have nothing to do with other FGs not offering a similar way to extra characters.

I wanted to share this little comic I made about the S4 balance changes:

Also hello again, haven’t posted on srk in forever lol

Last panel should’ve been Cammy.

Alex fries turning into SSJ3 hair.

Just watched frameadventage video on Akuma’s s4 changes and they said that he is still top tier cos he still has fireball vt activation and b.fp.
Are those really the things that make him so good?
I’ve switched to vt2 and I still win the same amount of matches as before. This just confirms that nerfs are not that important and that I never really learned how to use VT1.

Fireball VTC has been overrated since Akuma came out. It’s good, but it’s not Genei Jin levels of lock you out of the neutral and I can’t remember the last match where fireball VTC lead to me dying. If they’re doing fireball VTC they didn’t hit me and that’s already halfway what I want. With Menat’s trigger it’s even better if I end up blocking that. Now that’s it’s 3 bars lulz.

I always say what makes Akuma good is that he hides what’s actually good about him behind a bunch of other flashy shit that’s good, but not as good as his actual good stuff.

The actual stuff that makes him top are his walk speed, s.MK, s.HP, mostly plus on block strings that lead into more shit and real c.MK fireball that causes knockdown.

Yeah, I think Ken is a little better in s4, not in a huge significant way but overall better as I expected

The compensation nerfs he got for the buffs were inconsequential if ya ask me, the buffs outweigh the nerfs

I’m dicking around with Vega in the lab and I can’t figure out what he is supposed to do after landing a light roll in clawless.

I think the idea is that his frame advantage is supposed to make them block then he scoops with EX grab. He is +2 and in jab range, but you can’t confirm it into anything due to pushback. If they get hit by or block the jab they are in no danger.

Maybe I’m missing something but there seems like no reason you can’t just mash. Unless you are some kind of god that can OHC a jab the opponent can just pay 36HP to be safe from his pressure.

Of course nobody knows this matchup so most people will hold the “pressure” all day, but Capcom plz.

That’s what I was feeling. Ultra Chen and social media are making Ken out to be the new Alex, but I think people who know the character probably understand which numbers are actually affecting him. Thunder kick was not going to stay where it was and air EX tatsu is basically not worth using much any way (if that even actually got nerfed from what was said on Ultra Chen).

Thunderkick was already a trash move in my eyes anyways.

You can’t cover both rises with it. If they quick rise and block it, it was a free punish in s3 anyways. It’s an easy overhead to react to, and was not a true mixup if you know how to fuzzy guard it

Maybe… MAYBE you can catch a good player off guard with it ONCE in a long ass ft20 set with some goofy suboptimal gimmicky setup.

Them nerfing it harder is a stealth buff, now ken’s won’t be throwing away as many matches since they now know how shit the move is. It’s still unpunishable if you space it right, and use it correctly as a neutral tool once in a long while.

Same with ex air tatsu… that move has been dead since s2. Another secret buff since it encourages ken players to not make bad decisions

Now for the buffs:

Ken’s bad matchups got easier without question
EX (grounded) tatsu hits lower, making sweep punishes consistent and guaranteed, it opens up a bunch of other punish opportunities that I’m probably not even aware of

VT2 is actually useful now, and is potentially better than vt1.

Yeah the best buff will be that since everyone thinks Ken got nerfed the good Kens will catch people off guard. Plus less witch hunting

I just realized something even more busted about kage. He basically gets free -2 mixups once in vt2 since he can ex dp into safe on block v trigger.

LOL!

Mind elaborating on why you think Kage is top tier? My way too early impressions right now is that he’s a struggle character. His normals and move set resemble that of a Shoto, but he doesn’t have a fireball game like one to support his somewhat stubby normals.

I’m finding some match ups to be a real nightmare because the only range I can play at is close range and I get out poked of zoned out by fireballs. Light red fireball isn’t even an option against so many characters, but it’s worse when they also out range me.

Sako think’s Kage is fun but not strong because he lacks in neutral, weak fireball, no easy way to get in. That said, Sako doesn’t seem like the type of player for Kage though.

I think rushdown artists like Kazunoko or Poongko will do some interesting things with him.

Well you see Seth…

While CPT was going on this past weekend:

Hikaru Nakamura won the 2018 Grand Chess Tour

He’s a fraud I bet, probably cheated
