SFV Lounge: Menat BUFFED, F2P SFV coming, CCCC COMBO BREAKERS coming

I just don’t meaty anymore unless it’s a canned situation. Easier to time, better rewards.

5f or lower is my go-to, but luckily my character comes with setups for just about every knockdown

Just play Menat where you don’t need meaties :3

Like I said, that’s not really a hard way that all fighting games work. It’s people who think this way that put out rhetoric that doesn’t really explain all 2d fighters.

I just I don’t like having to react to a different rise animation in a splitsecond in order to apply some post KD pressure and I find these kind of things bad design, just a preference, not really trying to say that I wouldn’t miss my meaties with a different system

It’s ok to not like it, but generally it’s not a huge issue and most of the better characters have good options around the system any way. Is SF6’s oki going to be this way? Probably not. It’ll likely disappear like SFIV’s 1F links just to perform Vega’s bnb and invincible backdashes did, but it works within this game well enough.

Jokes on u she’ll be redesigned again

forget the kick stores, now she will store command grabs. Pinwheel will be like a Lariat function.

those gray effects? gone, now it will be brown

I missed the whole SFV newcomers thing but ye if there is one thing in this game that you can’t criticize much about is its newcomers, the ones in SF4 (barring Juri and Viper) felt so throw away-ish

top tier newcomers to me are Menat, Kolin, Zeku, Abigail (he is frustrating af to fight against but I like his schtick and character design), G (as an unfortunate soul who mained Q I couldn’t be more satisfied with G), Falke (maybe some will disagree but I legit think she is top notch and a more interesting Rolento… also, she has the most underrated booty of the game so that is a plus) and Laura (I know some peeps will disagree with this one but she is just a lot of fun to play, unique projectile also adds a lot to her). I’m alright with Fang and Rashid, I would wanna see all of these back again.

only misfires for me are Necalli and Ed… sorry Will, but Falke is the superior psycho power clone >:3

I expect Viper to be playable at some point. She’s Juri’s partner now!

Nope. In older sf games some moves come with 10 or more actives and that’s NON reactive. Reacting to 2 different KD options with slow 3 active normals is extremely hard to do and I don’t even see pros do it continuously. They all jab so they have enough time to recognize types of roll. If you are trying to meaty a roll on reaction with 80% or more consistency with a normal move that has +10 startup… well, I haven’t yet seen it done consistently (though maybe there’s some wonder kid out there doing it consistently while letting all kinds of other parts of his game slip)

And in old games you could meaty with heavies on basically every KD if you wanted to. Fei long was the master of this in ST but it wasn’t limited to him. It was easy to meaty wit( other moves as well because huge active frames and little to no reactive component.

Straight up facts.

The marvel thing here is disengenuous. You get frame perfect ground resets that make up for knockdowns, and various other state based resets like lockdowns and the like and in coming mixups

In fact, as you know, it’s even worse in marvel.

It’s just that the setups aren’t cut and dried, but the actual tactics are WAAAy cheaper and cover more options and are way more ambiguous timing and spacing wise.

I think Capcom has the right idea with the two rises. Im scrubby as fuck but for me if the animation to back roll was a little bit more distinct from quick rise and if the distance of the back roll was a little greater it might help.

I think the philosophy of the back roll is you sacrifice a bit of the screen to alleviate some of the pressure right?

I think they should lose more ground to make it a more difficult decision for the defender. Sure you escaped the pressure… But now your in the corner.

LMAO! Peeps keep trying down play Kage when motherfuckers say take the throw in the Akuma matchup as well!

If that doesn’t highlight the options Kage has available nothing will.

How to beat Karin in 3 steps

  1. Take the throw
  2. You see her trying to shoulder from a normal? Jab her or worse.
  3. TAKE THE FUCKING THROW.

Karin currently isn’t a good character, imo. Human error on the other hand makes her very dangerous because of her burst damage.

:^)
