You literally couldn’t ask for a better finish for the event other than Ryu actually winning. Deshiken is just a monster, watch his victory in Coopcup 2016 when he came in and came back all the way closing with a Perfect against Rikimaru

Makoto needs to get into SFV so she can introduce pure, honest, neutral/footsies heavy gameplay into the game.
She is the best character to bring order into the chaotic mess that is SFV.
On the English stream the commentators were saying that during his speech Deshiken said he wanted to start playing SFV competitively. That’s gonna be interesting if that actually happens.

Whiff punishing in this game is very hard, I don’t think that’s what keeps people in gold level. I’m not even sure it’s a main strategy of this game unless you play certain characters. Like ken maybe.
I’m certainly not trying to whiff punish with Sagat. It’s just a series of predictions based on the position of the opponent.

sagat cant really whiff punish, some characters are more suited to just putting normals out for space control. It’s not like Sagat gets much off of whiff punishing anyways, at most distances the DP can whiff if you tag the extended hurtbox

well, there is a difference between throwing your gear around or just slapping on your table once out of frustration. have seen a bunch of people slap once on theire stick but they dont expect it to break same as the guy most likely didnt expect that thing to break too 
Yeah I’d be lying if I said I never broke anything over Street Fighter. The worst was a few years ago during SF4 when I punched a hole in the wall after losing. Hilariously, I had the presence of mind to pull my punch and I still went through smh. I’ve broken a couple controllers in my time too.

St hp doesn’t crush counter. No one’s arguing it’s not a good move but that y zeku having further reaching normals than old zekus is false. Not only does old zekus have better pokes but they’re also safer and can deal good damage off v trigger 1 cancel.
And (2) that st hp is a commitment. y zekus st hp being equivalent to ryus Cr mk is a bad example, y zeku st hp has 12 frame startup and has 25 frame recovery and for a char with a 12 frame anti air, your gonna get jumped in on. Also it’s not a move your gonna whiff punish with on reaction for the most part. That’s all.
It’s a confirm. It’s only a commitment if you wiff it so… don’t wiff it. It’s like any other CC. Throw it out when you know they are going to be in range.
Oh but wait… it’s not a CC… yeah, that makes it even better. Save for some measly V gauge, this move is better than a CC because it full combos on NORMAL and counterhit. As far as it being -8 on second attack…even I can confirm it so there should be no problem getting out misconfirms, and even if there were, talking about misconfirms is like talking about dropped combos. Don’t drop. Don’t misconfirm. Nothing to talk about.
Like it’s not a commitment at all if you don’t wiff it.

I whiff punish with Sagat. But that might be my own personal spin on the character. I agree its not a key piece of playing this game tho. There’s only so much that you can be ready for. And with all the dashing and let me in now specials, looking for a low damage whiff punish into no oki is something you have to let go most of the time
