@DevilJin_01 Battle of the Strongest 2 has a bigger prize pool than Tekken World Tour. It’s was crowdfunded. I dropped $40 in. Glad to help them beat Tekken.
To be specific, the total is higher than the 1st place prize at the TWT Finals. Anyways they did a great job with this event and the TWT guys should be ashamed of that puny prize pool.
The ST people do the same. If you want to see what the model is for top tier FGC, look at how they work for themselves for the Tournament of Legends stuff.
Its the core of everything this scene should strive for in a lot of great ways. On the same tier is the Cooperation Cup for 3S. Godlike events.

From my experience, the most common developer explanation is that many gamers do not understand the raw numbers, while pretty much everyone understands something like signal (or battery power) bars.
It is easy to assume that there is more to the matter, though. After all, devs could simply offer both. There are games that show both bars and raw numbers, just as there are games that color code the raw numbers. I want to recall even seeing a game simply display an explanation that lower was better, while displaying raw numbers.
A common theory is that bars let companies obscure just how bad connections might be. There are a few reasons for this, but one that affects most online games is matchmaking. Companies want to offer the largest acceptable player pools possible for matchmaking, while many players want to only be matched against those that have what they deem as acceptable connections. Show people raw numbers, and you’ll have at least some people who reject anything over 40ms, or 20ms, or whatever arbitrary number they’ve picked. This has a knock-on effect across match-making, causing longer waits and potentially worse connections for less pickier players, which can itself cause them to become pickier which in turn exacerbates matters. There is also a legitimate concern in that people will set their cut-off point to a value rather lower than what they’d actually consider “acceptable” performance.
If you (the dev) instead show vague bars without numbers, you get a few matchmaking benefits. You create only a handful of breakpoints, and you have full control over them. Five bars is whatever you say it is, and players won’t even know what that means in raw numbers unless you tell them. If you make five bars mean anything from 0-40ms, then you won’t have some super picky person shrinking the pools by rejecting anything over 15ms. You could also, at least if you wanted, secretly alter the ranges over time. For example, if you player base starts to shrink too much, you can secretly widen the ranges for a four or five bar connection.
Trust me, you haven’t even begun to fathom the spoiledness of having a dp anti air.
Grind it out, never go back
I tried to tell people this back in the day, fell on deaf ears.
Yeah, it’s crazy how arbitrary bars can be:
If a company wanted to they could make them:
0-200 = 5 bar
200-210 = 4 bar
210-220 = 3 bar
220-230 = 2 bar
230-240 = 1 bar
Or something equally as stupid like this:
0-100 = 5 bar
100-200 = 4 bar
200-300 = 3 bar
300-400 = 2 bar
400-500 = 1 bar
Or it could be:
0-50 = 5 bar
50-150 = 4 bar
150-170 = 3 bar
Etc
It’s really up to them how they do it which is why bars mean nothing.
I think capcom has 5 bar as 0-120 have no idea about the rest.
Falke and Sagat should both beat Cammy now. They both already had the tools to deal with her since they covered her jump trajectory pretty well and outranged her in the ground neutral. Not like it’s terrible for Cammy, but they clearly can swing around in the neutral and both have decent enough defensive options for a character that doesn’t have an overhead or command grab.
I’ve played against a few Kages already and he can’t be no worse than top 10 with the basic stuff people are already doing with him. You can’t call him less than top 10 without deserving to be slapped. Slap yourself for me if you still don’t think he’s top 10.
yeah DP AAs have no deadzones whatsoever, the air control a DP offers is fucking insane.
Just went back to Cody after a week of Kage and it feels like shit having to hold deep crossups.
Kage might have to be revisited. I think his neutral isn’t as bad as I first thought.
Watched punk versus vagabond and punk was using L red fireball in neutral so well that vagabond stole it and started to use it himself.
Best thing is if the opponent gets jumpy it can be faked like doing the regular fast recovering hadouken and then dp them. Or do the air hadoken and make them jump into it.
Plus with his up close game, if his neutral is even semi serviceable, he’s a go for top 10, higher depending on how scummy his tech gets.
I can believe it. If only cause you replaced Blanka with the one true Blanka-chan.
that’s actually just the default Blanka image on mmcafe xd
Oh. Well good on them for doing that. Also, wow. Alex is that low? I’m just terrible at fighting him.
I tried making my own “early impression” tier list too because I enjoy making tier lists:
I don’t put too much stock with it, I’m waiting for EVO Japan and the first tournaments to get a real impression of how things are going competitively. It does feel like the patch brought all the characters close to each others though.
Why does everyone think ed is so low and why does frosty not have him at well rounded?
I don’t understand.
because he’s not well rounded and he’s bad?
Juri is as well-rounded as it gets without being ‘I can do everything better’ retard-tier like Akuma. She can play the lame game, she can be agressive, she has decent ground control thanks to her fireball and decent anti-air options, a very versatile V-Skill that works either as a punish or a combo ender, an invincible reversal, multiple fireball bypass options, a three frame move, a CA that can anti-air etc. Basically the only common SFV tool she lacks is some way to alter her jump arc.
She’s not an autopilot character or easy to play but I don’t see how the character itself has other faults than just getting outclassed by top tiers.
What numnut puts Menat under well rounded?
Better put Dhalsim and Zangief there too.
