SFV Lounge: Makoto is coming for sure. F2P definitely. RIP Pertho's doggy

“Tutorials are for nerds.” - Katsuhiro Harada probably.

I need to see some realtime footage of hurtbox retraction in V because I’ve been moving through the roster and everyone’s hurtboxes pull back like the instant they stop being active, whiff punishing is insanely difficult when you have to consider your own range.

Take Sak st.hk for instance, if I’m Cody and stand outside of her st.hk’s range I’m only within my st.hks natural range, so I need to tag her extended hurtbox to whiff punish it. Problem - her hurtbox doesn’t linger at all, so for Cody to get a good whiff punish on it, he needs to stand JUST outside of it’s range, and then microwalk in to land a st.mp or cr.hp. This is unrealistic for two reasons, Cody’s walkspeeds and Sak being able to manage the range with her walkspeed. Outspacing her st.hk by a few pixels isn’t happening when she can dictate that space within a fraction of a second.

This is a repeating cycle for a majority of normals in the game. Mids are basically impossible to whiff punish correctly without catching them with a pre-emptive poke.

Like I get that normal design is pretty garbage in V for a majority, but investing time into it really gives me a good idea of where they went wrong. I’m not expecting every normal to be easy to catch on whiff, characters need strong normals, but a CC roundhouse or CCs fierces having this kinda design is ridiculous.

Yeah but ranked is more about the aggregate. We’re all gonna drop games to randos, just how this game works (+/- delicious delicious rollback). More about when the day is done if you have more skulls for the throne.

Only time I feel like I can whiff punish “well” is with Cammy st. Hp. Don’t even know if it’s me or how good the button is either. :joy:

I’ve ran through a couple of fierces to start out, Cammy st.hp was one of them. Now this is purely on Cody only, so it’s a different story if you’re someone with better range overall, but Cody just outright cannot stand outside of st.hps range and whiff punish it. Lmao. I was wondering why Shakz did it a lot vs. me, now I know.

He HAS to catch it during start-up, or beat it’s hitbox as it comes out. Nothing will reach it if she whiffs.

When I was playing Sak for I found myself using her sMK for wiff punish due to range and speed. Her sHK is too slow unless done preemptively. Most characters don’t seem to have a great wiff punish buttons.

stlk xx dp is her go-to for pretty much everything, it outranges most characters fierce/roundhouse options

I only really focus on whiff punishing when I play Cammy. She makes it feel so easy with st. Hp. Don’t have to worry about comboing into a DP either(unless I know for sure it’ll hit or want to blow super).

@Cipher We ever gonna try and play some Blazybloo matches?

Edit: nvm you’re not on PC <.<

Definitely, but it doesn’t seem to hit some of the higher standing pokes very well, where sMK was more stable.

As said before, I am still very new to this game.

her st.mk is good too I’m not saying your wrong to use it or anything, it’s really hard to catch on whiff now too and covers early jumps if you’re late, so it’s a good base coverage option.

Unfortunately there is that bloody fMK too.

I know that’s an execution error on my part, but I hate it when I get that on mistake, because I usually explode afterwards.

I used to do that all the damn time. A lot of my early G was accidental overheads when I wanted to just st.HK.

Eventually you do get down the forward brief neutral button thing but I usually have to re learn per char.

Oh it’s all on me, I just haven’t played an sf style game in a long time.

Air dashers let you buffer into the dash so you don’t really have this issue.

Yes yes yes, slow and steady progress. Quick question, how do you make the overlays for streams? Any of you guys wanna take a shot at it? Other people are making banners and some other stuff.

Yeah I had the same experience. Even casually I dropped off SF games awhile ago and mostly played anime games so it was a big adjustment coming back to SF when I jumped into 5. Sooooo many accidental claps with Mika.

I just wanted to say I appreciate the effort. I am not going to be useful with the things you need but would help if I could.

I am on PC.

I don’t pay money to play online, my PS4 is for decoration purposes only.

Everytime I see G’s overhead I’m like “oh yeah right he has an overhead”. Having his command grab makes the overhead a bit redundant, but it looks cool and has dumb long range.

What hurts the most in Tekken is the lack of (for practice mode) frame data/visual cue settings. I bought it last year and have been relying on youtube. Compare it to Kof or dead alive who atleast have a comprehensive tutorial. It’s embarrassing.
