I’m simplify it. Akhos is the pro player that complains about finishing last at Capcom Cup. We are just trying to get out of pools at our weekly local.

He is very, very good at the poke-whiff-counterpoke game. I haven’t ever fought someone who was as good at it, but I also haven’t gotten many games in vs the upper crust here.
If your neutral is sloppy (too many whiffs, bad spacing, bad button choices) or you are impatient you will quickly get picked apart. Also if you are too passive you may just get rolled over.
Likewise the things he has practiced he has mostly down pat so when he gets openings they usually convert well and anything bigger than a 4 frame punish is probably going to hurt.
It was a huge wake up call for me as I was able to get to mid-Gold pretty cleanly after practicing but I could/can barely take games off him let alone sets (though if I’m having a good day I can steal a FT2 once in a rare while).
I like it because this is what I find exciting about SF and FGs in general but holy fuck was I not prepared. Bonus points for the fraudulent ass Platinum tag; I’d fought Plat players before and done okay so I thought that might still be the case. If all Plat players were as good as him there would be a lot fewer Diamonds.
I know the monkey’s busy with core value heaven and I’m glad he got the chance, but I can’t believe he hadn’t said this yet. In his stead, I shall say
