Dunno when SF6 will happen (probably around 2021/2022), but I’ve the feeling about being shafted anyway. Getting my character now= enjoy her for a bit, getting my character in SF6= enjoy the SFV hell until then.

Thanks, that’s kind of you. To me, though, JustBrowsing just sounds so so… ugh. It sounds massively cunty and condescending, when really, it was chosen when I wanted to read what was going on when the board was locked down.

Moderation over the years became a clusterfuck. In vBulletin everybody generally got kept to their own lanes that they’d been assigned because that’s how the tools worked. In xenforo or the next one everybody became super moderators across everything. Vanilla kinda continued the madness. I nerfed it in xen/Vanilla a little bit to keep things a little more reasonable because we are all part of the community here: it’s been way too easy for people to trip and start trying to throw weight in other areas which is often a shitty thing to be doing.
In the current discourse area, we have the concept of admins (d3v, wiz: people you accidentally trust to make good calls with regards to use of power), (super)mods (people that need the ability to do a little more powerful things), and “community leaders”. Community leaders are at about the power level of old vBulletin moderators, and seem to be the great plan moving forward even if the title isn’t as cool.
One of our old GD mods ripped a hole in the old server when he deleted a user account and thus destroyed a huge number of threads and broke indexing. Fuuuuuck giving too many powers to people that are going to use them destructively. Discourse is tight for disallowing that madness. Community leader level is tight.
Anyways: yeah I’m just a normal powerless community member at this point and have relinquished all control. d3v and company are your go-to peeps. I know how most things work if needed, but I won’t be particularly useful.
If you think you have the time energy or fortitude to try to make things better, you can always hit up d3v with your plans and why any particular given area could use more love and attention. This is our community: make it be what you want it to be. <3
