I feel legit hate for all mankind when I lose to G. Like I really feel a deep hatred.
So Kolin won Evo Japan + momochi also used zeku? Didn’t watch because I was sleeping but must have been hype.
I didnt downplay Zeku. Took him 3 patches worth of buffs to be good. On top of me being the only person in this thread constantly mentioning how good his VT1 is.

Oh I know how to do it, don’t misunderstand my complaint. Just so you know my angle, in many games I am known for having good execution (which I still hold is code for “practice”).
My point is that the fact that something as esoteric as Plinking is needed to even reliably hit required links is a problem.
I vastly prefer SFxT/SFV buffer system.
If I were to pick on execution things in SFV (which I think does a really good job managing execution requirements). It would be:
1: input shortcuts. Do many different potential inputs can produce a result. Don’t give me 30 ways to do a special, just pick one. This is a holdover from SF4.
2: too many button combinations. For a game with 6 buttons, it feels like the developers need to use every conceivable combination of buttons for moves. I think this is usually unnecessary, especially when you have a perfectly good left hand.

Momochi imo has hands down the best and most hype zeku in the fgc. This guy was confirming buttons that unsung was dropping regularly. And not only was he kicking ass, but he was also doing it in style. The only worry i had was the cammy matchup. You have to be so on point in that matchup. And the amount of space you have to keep giving up if you play with young zeku is scary(due to her air game).
This is why old zeku is so dope. You can hang it with anyone in the neutral and because people are so jump happy when they see o.zeku you get free anti air damage. I love it when people rush me down when the round starts (thinking i will backdash and switch to y zeku) but it’s free damage for me almost everytime.

Dont get me wrong, i’m not questioning your execution. Just had to point out the p-linking is something one can fall back on. I have similar gripes about the game.

I wasn’t taking it that way, I just wanted to point out that the complaint wasn’t coming from a personal inability to do it.
I agree though Momochi Zeku is very fun to watch.

i wish it would make a comeback! superarcade twitch channel will stream some mvc2 once in a while with the west coast players. believe nerdjosh uploads some of it on YouTube.
i just want a fightcade type thing for mvc2 thats reliable
She is. Everyone that bitches about Kolin is prob getting sacked by Neon and he’s literally hi IQ. Neon does shit no other Kolin does and he out optimizes everyone. Momo just has good fundies so he can make st.HP his ace. Outside of VT2 Kolin is so fucking fair.

I don’t think there is a full blown revival happening, but this discord server I am in for the game has seen lots of new players come in. I think for a game as old as mvc2, having 20 new players dedicated is huge and could make it a relevant consideration for tournament organizers to consider.
I have also been pushing it a bit at my local meetups by bringing my dreamcast with converters and such.
The unique problem though with mvc2 is that there is no way to play this game online without already previously owning an xbl or psn copy or using demul, which is somewhat tricky to setup and isn’t ultra reliable. Parsec might help with this. I haven’t tried it myself but I have heard good things about it!

I agree. The problem is, if you forced her to use VT1 she goes way down the tier list.
But that’s really more of an SFV problem in the whole.
I seem to be late but I really wanna way in on this.
I think KoF is the hypest game to watch, I can’t really pinpoint where it comes from, probably it’s because of the way the game is structured over playing neutral and then exploding your damage on an hitconfirm into maxmode or just spending on a super (like you know… When Leona is on screen)
Also great character variety.
My 2nd favourite is GG, I just love the game immensly and it’s always a blast to watch how people adapt and everytime someone baits a burst I cream my pants.
3rd but not far is SFV, I think it’s an amazing game for the spectators, mostly because of all the things that make me mad when I play it, like crazy VT comebacks and YOLO shit working.
For this 3 games I can watch pools to grand finals easy.
Then come BBCF BBtag and UNIST.
For BBCF I’d rather watch pools, in hopes of seeing some characters like Naoto, Kagura and of course Bullet. I’ll watch top 8 if it is against something like SFV pools, if it at the same rime as KoF and GG though I will have then both up but only watch BBCF during the breaks for the other 2 games.
UNIST and BBtag are weird, I like to watch them but I don’t feel too compelled to, they are good but kinda dull, I’d say the problem with UNIST arebthe long combos because you pretty much end up seeing the same things over and over again, pretty much the same for BBtag where combos are shorter but due to auto combos being a factor also usually end up looking samey.
These 3 games are all ok if I wanna just chill and the others are not on.
Then we have Tekken, I don’t play the game so I am not interested, I take a peek at top 8 in multi game tournaments, I appreciate how the game plays, I suppose I’d enjoy watching it quite a lot if I played the game.
Finally dragon ball can eat a dick. That game is enjoyable only for people that are really into the game or really, really into dragon ball.
I never watch the other games like smash, SCVI, Skullgirls and Mahavel.
And if you’re wondering, no NRS is not even on my radar 9 times out of 10 I forgot they even exist

When I lose to Kolin I feel like I fucked up. It’s not the same feeling I get losing to rashid, bison or some other dumb shit.
