Gouken beat Guile and Sagat in the fireball war, that tells you how good his fireball was.
He had no double hitting EX but he had the health to take the trades.
I remember faking fireballs with his st mp because it had the same startup animation as his fireball throw.

Random scrubs online that just lab his robbery (half life combos/back throw into ultra) but dont actually know how to play him.

As good as my friends gouken was (he beat Shizza in GF in a number of local dons arcade tournies, as well as at my place, in casuals)
He still lost to blanka Abel and fei long like the shits were 9-1 matchups. That’s where shine would have been the much better player imo. My friend couldn’t handle counter matchups at all.
But that’s ok because his dictator and Honda were basically on the same level as his gouken so if gouken couldn’t do it, one of those 2 could.
