The burnout is definitely a thing. Too much shit going on right now, and I’m kinda bored with my main. I should probably take a few weeks off to remedy those things.
Other than that it’s defensive decision making (which is hard as balls in Tekken, really complex game), and being uncomfortable whenever I’m not in firm control of the match which causes me to be really predictable when that happens. That last one is a weakness I have in most games I play (not just fighters) so it’s probably something that’s gonna take some serious effort to fix.
Bored with your main? Do you play kazumi or leo? Changing mains in Tekken is a bad idea. Sounds like you’re putting too much pressure on yourself (afraid of losing?) Id say take every match as an opportunity to learn or practise something.
I ask the E-Sportler in our Discord to tell me what the fuck is wrong with me.
I usually get told to play more and run with my head against the wall till it collapses.
This has helped me several times.
I also always pick a Sub, I can play, when I feel I can’t get further with my main.
It can work, since I either learn things usefull for my main that way or just can reflect in piece about my problems, without having to think.
So with EVO Japan happening I decided to check for news again to see if Capcom would break their radio silence.
Sadly I’m not even surprised they didn’t. Every other major Japanese fighting game had some announcement ready for the tournament but Capcom is still resting on its laurels from releasing arguably the most unique and visually appealing character in SF history in december of last year: Ka-‘totallynotevilryu’-ge.
Capcom made it clear in their way that they are not announcing anything at EVO yet some are still willing to punish them for their absence.
Their silence is not without purpose. We have confirmation that S4 is just starting and there is more to come. No need for the doom and gloom!
All the DLC drip-feeding spoilt some of ya’ll.
Edit- A lot of people wanted Kage. A majority arguably. And he was well received. Don’t twist and spin his release into something it clearly was not. Have some integrity. Capcom really can’t do right.
I tried changing up characters. The result is that I now have a functional Heihachi, Kazuya, DJin, Paul, Jack, Marduk, Shaheen, Josie and Asuka. Not good, merely functional. I can do most of their important stuff, but my gameplan is with them is horribly one-dimensional. Meanwhile, my Leo has gotten noticably worse as a result of me fucking around with so many other characters, that’s also part of why I’m getting frustrated.
But yeah, I’ve been playing the same character for a long time now. And as multifaceted and flexible Leo is as character (a big part of why I started playing her), that’s still maining the same character since the game came out. Being tired of her is probably just burnout, I still enjoy exploding people at the wall. (and I still don’t get the claim that “Leo is boring” other than people aping what Knee said while Knee was playing Jack, Paul and Kazumi)
Something’s in the water with the capcom loyalists lately. Logan from WSO also freaked out on me on twitter saying I wasn’t allowed to be disappointed with lack of SFV news.
My current mood since like late S2/early s3 has been please make me want to play you again outside of bits and spurts cause I love street fighter as a franchise and whatever you got right now ain’t doing it for me.
Its absolutely capcoms fault right now for 100% poor messaging on whats going on, their silence is deafening. If they even said “we are gonna be quiet until XYZ date” that would be different but a lot of other games are absolutely killing it right now and capcom just looks weak for being passive.
“A lot of other games” are in their first or second year. Still comparing SF5 to them at this stage in its cycle speaks volumes about THE fighting game that everyones loves to hate and hates to play but plays anyway.
I’m not suggesting one should be positive about the current state of affairs. I’m also not blind or deaf to the bad marketing and PR cracks widening.
I’m only saying that in the face of the available official information right now, it would say more about people than about Capcom to be negative right now.
Alot of the Capcom “fanboys” are indirectly or directly getting paid, making a living or getting to travel and have a good time because of sf5. So they try to come off as unbias but you can’t excuse how sf5 has and is being handled when it comes to communication.
Capcom is paying people like these athletes and artist pay these groupies and instagram models. With a plane ticket, a meal and a hotel room for a weekend.
Capcom isn’t handing out checks directly to people but they are paying indirectly for a lot of people to have a good time when it comes to sf5.
Why would they want that to stop or even think SF5 isn’t doing a good job?
If I had event’s, streams, and other things to do that directly correlate to SF5 and capcom is involved with these things, why would I think capcom isn’t doing a “pretty good job”
Capcom is doing a fine job for everyone that is traveling to tournaments, or involved with majors.
As far as being lucky for a active fighting scene… how? I play LESS now that I did during the age of the fighting game drought (which truthfully was just no streetfighter)
The fgc would just be more niche without street fighter. I probably wouldn’t be as interested in it, as for me sf is the life blood of fighting games.
Capcom isn’t doing me any favors if anything I’m paying and doing them favors, I’m literally the last man standing in my circle that even really promotes Sf5 or capcom fighters. And they make it harder and harder to do every year…
