We already played with nerfed Zeku. He was trash.
Glad he’s coming back.
I still feel like old dude needs buffs. They can tone down the youngin for old dude t9 get them imo. Was never a fan of young dude because he’s playing the same game every other aggressive non fireballer is playing in sf5.
Fuudos vt2 birdie has me feeling some type of way though.
I agree. The problem I have with Old Dude is like no matter how much they buff him I feel like no matter who I fight against online with whatever character I’m using he doesn’t feel like a real threat. He just feels like life lead starter for Y.Zeku. Like if I fight an Old Zeku that actually sticks to Old Zeku for more than 5 seconds vs my Falke they either have a gdlk O.Zeku or they’re just being stubborn. Usually the latter.
Whatever they can do to make O.Zeku a character that can win matches mostly on his own would be great. Y.Zeku can do that because he can go for meta frame trap into throw that chucks you into corner corner carry. O.Zeku not so much. His walk speed is garbo for a semi zoner and his buttons are too short to keep range with his very committal beamish fireball.
Inaccurate, no one is buying them cards nor is the child playing them.
Yeah it’s realky hard to know what exactly he needs without breaking him or changing him. Like an increased walkspeed would be great, but it won’t happen and it’s pretty stupid anyways for a zoner to have great walkspeed.
They could make his demonflips much better, but that might be overkill.
Imo a good try would be to give him oki off LK koku and make his demonflip attacks give more block and hitstun.
He’s like ed or some characters. Has “everything” but terrible versions of everything.
Slow walkspeed, slow projectile, slow pokes, no cancelable low.
Atleast he now has a safe cancel. St.hp xx hk koku is totally safe on block and allows him to wiff punish things like jabs, with ease.
But lest be real. What makes a good character in sf5 is the ability to repressure well or ability disrespect neutral or 3 bar comeback v trigger, or have a really good zoning game.
He has none of that save for repressure but it’s wack. He needs better options and numbers on his moves.
For me if the whole character has to become “OP” to make O.Zeku a threat then I’m fine with that. I’m just tired of seeing shit like Angry Bird switch to Young Zeku vs characters that normally get bodied by zoners like Abigail. Why even have the ability to turn into a zoner version of yourself if you can’t even realiably zone people who get zoned out by them? Shit is stupid.
Momochi’s Zeku is kinda the same thing. Very esoteric reasons that he switches to O.Zeku and most of it is just having to deal with him since you must play as him first every round.
Zeku is basically like having to pop 2 V Triggers. Your first V Trigger is popping out Young Zeku and the second is actually activating V Trigger.
If you buff Old Zeku normals, he’d be fine. Let his cr.hp or his St.mp be legitimate anti airs. Reduce the recovery on st.hk so you can throw it out there in neutral every once in a while and the character is kinda fine. The koku buffs did a lot to help his gameplan. Buffs to his flip and other things might make the character crazy in a bad way.
Bison rips out Juri’s eye in her SFV prologue. Like I said before, if you don’t like story in fighting games, that’s fine, However, you justifying your opinion with something that isn’t true.
It’s almost as if they designed YZ to be so strong that OZ is supposed to get rushed down hard to not allow YZ to come out. It’s the only thing that makes sense.
That’s pretty much how to explain it in the short way.
So misting when some fake thots eyeball got fatalitied makes me wrong?
Already gave examples of devs using story stuff to make bad decisions that impact gameplay. You’d be surprised how often that’s a thing across a lot of games.
Right now a lot of you guys compartmentalize the vs side from the story side. The problem is that at the top its a game that’s being designed and they’ll want all things to be cohesive. Stuff like “well we wanted characters to play in fresh ways” can very well start with “well the story is being told this way and it doesn’t make sense for the character to play the same way.”
Nerds do nerd shit all the time.
More like they fucked up the number on O.Zeku in fear. His fireballs are just too damn slow considering the normals he has. Seems to me like they wanted his zoning to come out exclusively from those (possily because a full zoner that can turn into a full rushdown could have been too strong… or just Guile) so they did the Juri/Ed thing and made every tool just a bit bad. If I recall correctly all his “fireballs” got sped up in this patch. so they probably know where to hit, they just trying not to do too much.
Juri seems not to get good buffs out of the same fear and Ed seems to always be 1 season behind with his buffs.
Yes it does. You gave a cause and effect example that isn’t correct. Capcom creates Street Fighter games and then comes up with a story to explain their decisions. They’ve discussed ad nauseam how they constructed the roster. They based the roster around different playstyles, different country reps, and including characters that hadn’t been around in a while. That’s why Karin, Mika, Nash, and Birdie in the game. They hadn’t been seen in a while.
They’ve said since the beginning of SFV that they wanted characters to have a unique playstyles, particular in the first couple of seasons. Nash didn’t get new moveset because of the story. He got one because they wanted him to play differently from Guile. In interview after interview article after article they’ve stated that they wanted Ryu and Chun Li keep their classic playstyles and they wanted to change things up for everyone else.
I’d say Juri’s Playstyle was pretty unique in 4, if anything it’s much less unique now.
Sherry Nhan: 24 hours later and still a little bitch.
Fuck what Darc wrote, gonna go instigate.
Arigato and THANK YOU for the love and support. I was the ONLY AMERICAN in the TOP 10 of EVO JAPAN 2019 CVS2 and I felt alone. It would have been nice if I had a fellow USA player to coach with and cheer but I didn’t. Even my arch nemesis RICKI ORTIZ was eliminated so early I was shocked. I’m super proud of my fellow S-GROOVER “CYMATIC BRUCE” aka BRUCE WOODEN for traveling half way around the world to give his best for TEAM USA. Also to GLLTY for giving the best shit possible as well. Last but not least GUNTER aka DAVID DIAL for his incredible attempt with an unorthodox A-GROOVE team. I’m prepared to be the martar of the CVS2 scene and have accepted it. All I know is until you have your #2 in the world medal, a national title, NEC medal, FACEBOOK HQ Championship Medal, or 9th place at EVO JAPAN 2019 you don’t know what it’s like in my shoes. I took a personal responsibility to bring CVS2 back and since the last EVO 2018 WORLD TOURNAMENT I have dedicated endless hours to making our game popular again. Now we have JUSTIN WONG and other legend players back to the battle. I don’t expect the props I deserve but you all have no idea what it takes to thrive to be the best in this game on my level. I’m truly blessed to be alive and well. To have represented our entire country in your names and honors. Good Night from TOKYO,JAPAN . Arigato

Okay, question. I’m plateauing in T7 right now, and it’s getting pretty frustrating. What do you guys generally do when you reach a point where you’re unsure where you need to spend your time to really improve?
List/jot down what exactly you believe is causing you to plateau and work on those things specifically as goals until you get out of that plateau. That’s if the plateau is a big one.
If it’s just a small little plateau then you’re probably just burned out and need to give yourself a little break and come back fresh.
Most of the time though there are always direct things that are causing you to plateau. Players who get better figure out what those are and attack them.
