Oh I’ve noticed that the SF5 crowd/players are really stubborn, even in japan. The majority of the top tier players should be playing a handful of characters from akuma, ibuki, cammy, karin, rashid. Maybe its fallout from sf4, but before that the top players just picked the best characters. Especially in the states, now its almost like people feel like they are too good to play a “brain dead” top tier just to win.
Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of good high tier characters that can win in sf5… so it’s not a bad thing but it’s just weird how much things have changed. Same thing with playing a game you don’t like, that def started with sf4… It kinda put fighters back on the map so if you wanted to play with the homies you kinda had to accept it. Even if you didn’t really like it, now with online being “decent” and a ton of tournaments and games out… there is no reason for people to be complaining about “why a game is getting played”
I also think streaming has changed alot of things, everyone wants to be a personality and get that esport/twitch/youtube money.

He still plays Marvel 2. He’s at some of the throwback events in Cali. He just doesn’t have any shouting videos anymore and probably wears the Terminator 1 get up less often.
Speaking of Marvel 2, “Sentinaaal” still a name that anyone hears about as of late? I remember a set between him and Row from some tournament back in the day. In fact, any of the old guard been heard of since? Not talking just Yipes, Sanford, Wong, etc.

Row was playing Marvel 3 for a while. I think Fanatiq moved on to league or just other non fighting game shit. Chris Schmidt was playing Marvel 3 and a bit of Marvel infinite.
I actually got to play against J360 a few times in Marvel Infinite. He was using Space Iron Man/Ultron.
It was cool to see all those guys playing at Battle of The Strongest 2. Probably should just rename the ComboFiend team to J360 team at this point.
But here is someone I really think about a ton… whatever happened to ROM? I don’t think there is really any records of him other than the combo he found lol
I don’t think he entered a whole lot of tourneys. He kinda was like Mike Z where he did more tech stuff than regular tournament play. It was more players like SooMighty and Yipes were the tournament product of what ROM created.

Asking the MvC2 group is probably the best bet.
Dr. B cratered his own hype being wack. Wong never said he’d let him pick his characters. Told him he’d give him a handicap and Dr.B claims this means he gets to make up random stipulations.
Whats hilarious is that Dr.B says he is the NA champ at CvS2 but needs to be spotted games and force Wong to use random characters and grooves. Dark Prince vid is apt since he is basically perpetrating the same way.

He should have challenge JW with equal terms if he want to prove his better. That would earn him respect or in a better spot after than making JW agree on his terms. Choosing a character for JW is a unfair stance since his active and also a one of the best player up to date with a good track record. IMHO
I think Justin should shank him, or get a goon to beat him up.

That’s the funny thing. I don’t see what’s so great about being the North American champ of a game that you have to play on old ass CRTs. If you’re the best in the world like BAS probably still is, hell yeah that’s cool props. Best in NA with the 20 people who still actually grind that game in the US? Bleh.
I’m sure there’s plenty of people that play at Gamespot in Japan who can go toe to toe or tear him up. I wouldn’t just want to gloat about being a regional best in CVS2. That’s such a small scope.

The extra funny thing to me is him hyping up his win over Ricky O. Congrats fam, you beat somebody who isn’t actively playing the game and is probably still godlike at it. Sure he has a W over Ricky, but its not like he took it when Ricky was at her peak.
It’d be like if I ran into you at some random 3S tournament, beat you and then held that W like some monumental achievement. I’d bring it up for all the fun trash talk of it, but you are exactly playing it actively.

Basically. I feel this is a time where like unless you’re talking with the people who are truly stream/youtube channel fans of the old games you’re just falling on deaf ears or looking like a has been to everyone else. These guys are investing real time into more relevant games and are being paid to play those games. Coming at them with the OG “I’ma play you for pink slips/10,000 dollars that my homies are gonna bond together and set up” just doesn’t look the same in 2019. The environment is different now.
BUT it’s fun to look at. Overall though to add to your example it’s like being the best at Yugioh cards back in highscool and then coming back when you’re 33 like “yo bro I’ll take on anyone in the HS reunion in Yugioh don’t be scared bitches now!” Odds are most of the people at the HS reunion sold their cards or their kids play them now and you’ll just body their kids.
