That’s it though. The people who already have the game and are playing it aren’t going to focus on a free trial even if they didn’t do the ads thing.
I have no use for the free trial because I’ve already bought into the game and jumped into the complain social circle for 3 years. Free trial is only going to matter to some guy stumbling into CapcomUnity and finally deciding to try the game out. There was going to be no focus on the free trial for anyone already in either way.
Unless SFV becomes a full on free to play game not gonna matter to those already in.
capcup ads don’t seem that terrible to me since you can opt out of them but I fear something like this could set a dangerous precedent.
It’s also a bit annoying considering that:
1 I’ve already paid for the game
2 not even f2p games such as dota and league go as far as putting ads in game
3 Capcom seems really fast when it comes to churn out skins, extra battles etc. and at the same time pretty slow when it comes to qol changes and balance patches

Skins are easier and faster to pump out, qol changes (depending on what it is, anyway, like the loading screen change from online to training mode or the frame data viewer) take a bit more time and testing
Balance patch is on purpose because of the CPT so we only get 2 per year
It’s likely. His hurtbox retracts pretty quickly. Definitely has one of the better sweeps in the game.

I guess my main point is the timing and decision was terrible no matter how you slice it. Capcom Cup is coming and all of the focus into that event should be positive. The free trial was just something I brought up because it’s happening right now. A better point would be Capcom Cup itself, as that should be dominating the talk over the ads nonsense. We see the opposite happening now. Ads has already become a living meme.

I agree. I think whomever is in charge of PR at Capcom is just kinda dumb, at least when it comes to SF5 stuff.
A smarter way to handle it would be to hold it until S4 is ready to roll out and bury it at the bottom of announcements then. At least then you wouldn’t be sort of side-checking your big end of the year event.
Or, if they ever plan to roll out a legit F2P client just sit on the ads idea until that is ready to go and roll it out either alongside that or right after and spin it as a way to earn more FM faster so you can really play for “free”.

Bison can still punish with LK Scissors, obviously. But I wonder if Blanka can incorporate that playstyle against other characters.
