Cody’s neutral is almost non-existant in the Sagat mu.
Cody has pretty good neutral (by S2 and S3 standards).
I don’t think Sagat’s that weak.
He can still do button and do fireball on a lot of characters like he always has.
I think we need a breakdown on Sagat’s overall mu’s.
He’s a pretty singular character who relies on zoning, AA, and buttons, while not being a total asshole.

As of now everything that flowtron said from character and costume happened even before xkira copied it. (he claims he did not but he was the last)
Flowtron was right with Jin.
Flowtron so far never had a missed or anything. And I had a good job of speculating.
The only thing he was missed was X for Ryu being Megaman rather than X. But those were mistakes that isn’t that critical.
We even in other threads had Ryu to Jin cosplay as wishlist and speculation not as a leak even before the Extra Battle came out. Because it’s a good fit for Ryu as a character.

An obvious pick, It’s not a hard choice to speculate but a decent one to be link with Ryu.
But Demitri as Ed… no one seen it coming becauae everyone was saying Demitri was Bison even known leakers.

I don’t think he beats Birdie, bullhead goes through fireballs too easily, EX dolphin answers them for further out, VT1 shits all over his gameplan too. Sag loses normal for normal, he just eats st.mk/st.hp for days if his fireball game gets shut out.
Don’t think he beats Mika either tbh, she can make DPs whiff with the flop, drop kick can go through a poorly timed fireball or just use VT1 to force her way in. Her blender is way too strong and she can still bypass his fireballs and at the least make him question his AAs, which fucks up his space control massively. Got that SFV dash too, which is just a cunt for everyone.
I main Cody, feels 5-5. Soon as Sagat commits to an option midscreen Cody gets EX.Zonk for free cause of his shit block frames. LK.Shot is about as good as it gets if he doesn’t want to constantly spend V-Meter on keepout.
Idk much about Chun/Zeku MUs. But I don’t even think Ryu is 6-4, I think it’s more 5-5.
He definitely beats gief. Outside of that maybe Ed, maybe Vega, Kolin possibly. Seems to go quite well against Birdie. Not many in other words and some of those could be debated even.
I made a match up chart on the mcaffe thing for my own use. Basically ended up 70% even match ups and about 8 bad ones.
Ibuki, Rashid, Bison, Guile, Menat, Boxer, Falke and Sim were the bad ones from memory.

Think he beats Kolin? Idk, seems like it’s alright for him without her VT2 stocked, but as soon as she gets that you can’t throw fireballs, and she can slide in to get the engine going.
Wouldn’t say clear advantage. Agree with all the bad ones obvs, just feels like 90% of the roster have some way to invalidate his fireball game, which is all he really shines at. And his fireball data isn’t even that impressive anyway.
Then you need to mod Sagat’s tigershot sound file and replace it with the sound from the video where he sais “cornflakes”.

You just don’t push anything when she’s in V. Plus you’ve still got your mid range where she can’t react. Trigger a lone isn’t enough, she’s quite easy to zone. Pretty sure Bonchan also thought he beat her.
Sagat matches don’t take place at full screen zoning, he’s not really that type of character now.
Edit: his fireball game is definitely respectable , at 31 and 27, that’s the best set of plasma in the game, that’s guile included.
He can combo ex tiger upper from ex tigershot in the corner right ?

she’s easy to zone without VT but idk, as soon as it’s up your gameplan devolves to don’t press anything, maybe don’t eat a st.hp into 50% and mix-up.
I wouldn’t say 6-4 on it when she can just flip the match on it’s head and Sagat has to honest her down from 0-100.

Hm? Never said his fireballs were a problem, they’re alright when not in a vacuum of characters who can answer fireballs without resources.

With Birdie i think its pretty easy to space fireballs so he can’t bullhorn. You can get a spot where bullhorn doesn’t connect or the shots are hitting too fast for the anti fireball frames to kick in. The dolphin dives and chains are guesses. The most important thing is not getting predictable with back to back shots in spots where he can punish. Ex dp punishes just about everything birdie does on block but stand lk for vt ex bullhorn, hp dp for vt regular ones.
For Mika you dont try and dp for AA. Hk does everything for you in terms of drop kick and anti air. Also Sagat can punish splash after whiffing hk on AA timing. F+hk hits her standing for a few frames after splash whiffs or you can kara dp

You said up there the data wasn’t that impressive, but for a motion DP character to have a 27 recovery high and 31 low that’s pretty good. The low shot is the same as Ryus EX FB.
Guiles are better for pressure and control, he’s pretty broken in terms of over all balance.

He can combo that mid screen. Sagat does get really good damage in the corner tho.

There are fights worth fighting and then there is the fight to use a spring with less than 6 pounds on an optical stick while trying to play Gief,
This one is not worth at all.
4 pounds springs are too light for SPDs.
