Shit, I didnt even know there was a TMNT game for Sega.
I think the only games I had for Genesis were Sonic 2, MK1/2, Earthworm jim, Battletoads, Robocop vs Terminator, and some shooting game (‘Vector’ or something?)
Anyways, got fed up with the three button pad on Mk2. They released a 6 button pad, but it still acted funny. I mainly traded it in for an SNES to get a default pad for MK2 with adequate buttons. Then of course the world opened up to the TMNT games, Street Fighter, Megaman X, and Nintendo games (Donkey Kong Country, Super Punchout, Mario kart, Starfox, etc) and I couldn’t be happier.
Edit to add: forgot I had Eternal Champions on Genesis as well. That was a great game. I hope they’re able to make that reboot but I haven’t heard anything in a long time.
Vectorman! I remember believing he was Mega Man’s distant cousin.
Funny enough, my mom ended up getting me the six button controller when she got me Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers for Genesis. She just assumed I needed a new controller. Perfect timing because I can’t imagine constantly pausing to change the Punches and Kicks constantly.
Eternal Champions was great. I was terrible at that game. Could never pull off the stage fatalities or any of the special moves.
Eternal Champions was fucking hard man! I don’t think I ever beat the game and while I’m pretty sure every stage had a fatality, they were very specific as to how to pull them off. I think I only knew how to do two of them (the one near the bond fire, and the one with the monster with tentacles).
Yeah, I played my buddy across the street in EC a lot… until he moved. Then fuck that shit, the CPU was ridiculous.
I’m over here eating up all this Laura advice because I have a lot of the same problems. Only thing is I keep seeing St.hk suggested a bunch and I can’t seem to get anything off of that button it seems to get blocked all day. Or is everyone just suggesting it to keep the opponent in check that you have a long range button?
It’s safe from max distance and if you land it as a Crush Counter it’s basically a free hard knockdown so there’s really no reason to not use it when you’re at the right spot. The alternative would be f.HP from that range but that leaves you negative and right in their face when blocked.
You know, I really appreciate you all and this forum.
After my last messages, I took my lunch break and was reflecting on the fighting games I played as a kid, and it really helped me understand how I went about playing fighting games back then (such as the type of characters, and tactics, I used), and how I play the same way today, which is not really conducive to how to do well in SFV. I think I’ve made this realization before in conversations with @GetTheTables but it was more along the lines of “I wish SFV allowed me to play this way” instead of how it should be, which is “how can I change how I play to be better in SFV”.
Anyways, I don’t have much time right now to think of what I need to do differently, but I’ll dwell on it after I get a handle on this work I have to do, and I’m sure I’ll ask some questions later.
Also, I’m dropping MKX for now and focussing on SFV. Personally, I find MKX a lot more fun if the goal is just to boot up a game and play some matches and do some combos, but SFV is better, for me, to work on getting better as a player. Plus, I want to finally climb out of these damn scrubby ranks and get good. I’ll never be winning any tournaments or anything like that, but that’s fine. I just want to be better, as a personal goal.
I’d be more surprised if they were working on a Darkstalkers game than MVC4.
With how MVCI did, I don’t really relate what he said to MVC4. I think Capcom would think fans would be more surprised if they were rebooting an old series (like Darkstalkers or Final Fight), or if they’re working on the first game of a well-known IP.
Fight the mighty Kirin as hungry Nergigante and spread fear with your +50 ob Divebomb!
The chance of Capcom remaking a niche game of a niche genre, that won’t make the sell Capcom wants, since Capcom always wants ridicoulis high sales for literally everything and say often enough “we didn’t meat our sales expectations.” is low, ridicoulis low.
I mean EX Layer didn’t sell as good as everyone was expecting, cause it didn’t had the SF name attached to it anymore.
Darkstalkers stays dead, Final Fight might have a survival chance, since these old school sidescroll Beat em Ups aren’t presented a lot these days, but even that might be a big gamble.
All Capcom fighter wouldn’t interest me at all. It’d be like a DBFZ that only has non Saiyans. For me you gotta have the capes and tights with the powerz or else. Too much of how Marvel got to where it was is based on the crazy power trip stuff they gave everyone because of the Marvel characters. A game where they try to fit Capcom characters to 8 way dash is just meh to me. They’ve always found a way to eventually work with Marvel, they just picked a bad point where Disney and Fox were having a cold war over Xmen on top of not caring for budget or AAA worthy effort.
Not really expecting any other old fighting game franchise to come back, but it could happen. Until then, let me see the Falke buffs and only one small Ibuki nerf that is insignificant.
I’m keeping my expectations low a surprise could be meh that’s a surprise I guess or OMG that’s a surprise! lol. Rival schools would definitely be a surprise but probably wouldn’t sell for shit.
Edit. And delete_me I’ll keep that in mind I definitely need to use more buttons. I’ve noticed a lot if y’all have a ton of knowledge of characters you don’t play I need to do that
