Do you really think that NRS patching was bad cos it was often and not cos they made +/- 10f adjustments?
Capcom could do small tweaks more often and it would not break a game.
Alright use KIs time period of releasing frequent patches instead, as opposed to NRS.
The biggest faults with NRS patching is less the frequency because honestly everyone’s always hype at patch time. Its just a lot of it is too kneejerk, or just like, why?. Its slowly been getting better over time but man there is stupid decisions sometimes.
The Kotal nerf is what made me quit playing MKX for example.

Thats true. I didn’t really care that the game was changing. I couldn’t figure out why they couldn’t tell characters were gonna have looping pressure strings or how they didn’t know tanya was ultra busted
Yeah man I’ll definitely be around tonight. Likewise I took off a chunk of time Friday through the 25th so I’ll be around. I want to knock out the 40 ranked wins challenge just to get the FM at some point but I can grind that out whenever (hopefully faster than slower).

If kept twice a year, then make them every six months instead of March-December. More than 6 months and the meta stales badly to the point of unbearably dull.
Didn’t you @Frost take a long hiatus of the game precisely because of getting bored of it? If so, that’s precisely our point for most frequent patches.
Three patches a year (every four months) sounds about right. Of course, they need to be done on good faith instead of being rigged ones according to who wants Capcom to be top tier and who they want to suck. That is my biggest beef with SFV by far, and I don’t many (I love CCs and close quarters fighting).
That wasn’t due to balance, it was because the game didn’t have my main in it.
If people are getting bored with the game and you need patches to make it exciting every 4 months I think there’s something wrong with the game
Capcom already does more than 2 balance patches a year through stealth nerfs/buffs with other updates, sometimes they are good (like akuma’s st.mk nerf) and sometimes idiotic (like Juri’s VTII nerf). I have nothing against this kind of patches in fact I wish there were more of this little changes.
Now the major problems with Capcom balancing is that they are stubborn idiots that refuse to or can’t see what needs to be adressed in order to improve or tune down a character, hence why people are so exstatic when they nail down the buffs for some characters (see Cody or Sakura in S4)
Considering how good his c.MP is. I damn near use it as a real Sagat c.HP (not his dinky SFV version). Look at my old replays, I abused the fuck out of that button. The issue is it didn’t have nearly enough damage to make anyone respect it. If he’s able (and I don’t know as I won’t be able to play S4 Ed until tomorrow and no one plays him so I can’t exactly watch tape) to max range or nearly max range c.MP xx Psycho Upper and have it actually hit, you’d be shocked at how much that would actually shoot him up. Even though it’s basic shit that a lot of the cast can do, c.MP is a legitimate Street Fighter normal unlike half the cast has and he has the walk speed to back it up. Ed would be at worst, Karin for dummies who can’t just frame like myself (and of course without the fantastic offensive pressure that she has).
Now if he can’t do it from near max range, he still bottom 10.
