playing the story modes while skipping the scenes for 10+ chars should you grant relative fast the 100k
In slight fairness to that guy, it probably is a reversal against a lot of online players who have shit meaties and/or rollback. Poor dude was probably super pissed that it wasn’t working like it usually does.
Good luck man. That is one of the reasons I’ve stuck with Laura. Try to force myself to engage more.
For what its worth I think its overall more valuable to be well rounded that way. Even the keepiest of the keep out characters in this game benefit from being able to switch over to aggro periodically.
Thought story mode want granting fight money anymore?
I totally agree. I’d ideally just switch to Ryu now, but I feel like I may just be too tempted to fall back to my old ways of playing, which I guess is stupid, as I’d still have that option with Kage and his red fireball so maybe I’ll just try out Ryu again now anyway and try to force a more up-close playstyle.
not the main cinematic story mode (not sure if you get something out of it). i mean the char story modes and it gives still xp which levels your char up and each level up gives you 1000 fm.
so in theory you need 10 level 10 chars = 100 000 fm
It grants FM through leveling up your character.
Played some Ryu against Veggey just now, got stomped as expected.
His main feedback was “less reactive / passive play. Flowchart harder”.
Ugh.
<.<
This is a just do it type of game. Never forget that Daigo lost a match because he let Necalli grab his dome 5 times in a row.
The guys that hated fireball activation from Akuma wll hate his VT2 now.
That was a quick turnaround.
The Kage plan still has merit. With Kage you aren’t really going to zone someone out, or at least you don’t want to. Throw some fireballs for screen control and tempo but angle for the way in. You want to be in there putting demon foot to ass. Dude is explosive.
I like how the camera conveniently cuts away before it can sink in that the initial shot of the CA hits despite clearly being no where near Alex.
(I’d assume the camera cut was originally implemented to hide moving the victim into the proper position for the kick follow-ups. Now, Capcom is just taking advantage of that to get away with an easily implemented buff.)
Kage got me tripping.
Story dudes are like , man pity Evil Ryu isn’t in, loved the lore ! Kage is cool though
Players like , I really loved Evil Ryu, well looks like I’ll just have to learn Kage instead.
Meanwhile I’m like Neo in the matrix… You guys can’t see that?
Yeah. Rollback is exactly how he eventually got me with it.
Lol! I just have a hard time determining how I want to (or should) play this game.
I know my biggest weaknesses are how I get in (usually with an obvious jump), and panicking when I’m up-close.
Sagat’s fine if I can zone, but against some characters, I seem like I have no choice but to get in and that’s when I get pummeled.
So yeah, I guess Kage should be able to work out those fears/bad tendencies better, but at the same time, I don’t know if that’s how I want my playstyle to be. Right now, it’s really just a fear I want to get over.
Apparently V-Reversals can kill you if you have no health and use an armored move. Seems like an oversight but I actually like this change.
I like the fact that Kage doesn’t have any “ok let me just throw out this random ex special and be + in your face type move”
Can be good against Abigail, time will tell.
But yeah, looks unintended.
So this probably isn’t going to make your decision/path any easier, but here’s my take on it:
If you have something that you want to work on, work on that/those thing(s). The choice of character, in my experience at least, is irrelevant to the actual act of forcing yourself to address issues you see in the way you play.
Changing characters can give you a different perspective on the situation, but may not solve the actual issues that are throwing you off. Switching to Kage may force you to play more aggressively which may in turn help you feel like you are getting better at handling the scramble, but what you may actually be doing is getting better at the scramble with Kage.
For me I do the same dance with Laura. I get frustrated having to fight my way in sometimes, especially against plasma. So I debate playing characters that either have better answers or who don’t have to do in at all.
So I try Menat. Great against plasma, doesn’t have to engage. But you need to have a good keep out game with her and in this game that can be hard to manage (see JWong in CPT top 8). And I do sort of hate how low her damage is. Maybe I should try… oh wait that char has this and that I don’t like…maybe I should.
Until I eventually cycle back to Laura (with Mika sitting in the corner waving, still). The answer I have found is that the best thing for guys like us to do - still learning what the fuck to do - is to pick a character and stick with it. Grind against the stuff you find difficult and look for as many answers as you can in the character and the system.
With where we are at the problems are almost always an issue with mindset or approach than it is mechanical (though mechanical doesn’t help sometimes). The hard part is fixing that, which is time consuming and involves plenty of beatings. Upside is that this community and the discord are good for finding training buddies who can level you up real quick. I feel like I learned more in the last couple of marathon sessions with Akhos than I did in months prior to that (density of matches also helps).
Long, rambly lunch post. Apologies. Half of this is me talking to myself when I debate cycling characters again in like a week.
