Doesn’t Menat have to play perfectly as well or she gets stomped? Only difference in my eyes her vt1 being able to snatch wins if you have the execution and she gets to hoard meter for reversal super. Hell she doesn’t have real reversal, just a 3 frame button.
Is she really that much easier to play than Sagat? I don’t believe so.
Much better than playing with Gief and losing because you chose him.
Menat does have that similar complication but unlike Sagat she has that whole “no hitbox” normals thing going for her.
Unlike Sagat who has to control space with fireballs and normals Menat can just do it with normals and they are similarly hard to jump (without a read or a guess she can AA). I think Sagat is better off defensively - more health and stun + EX DP > 3 framer IMO - but her zoning is less mentally taxing I think. Which is gonna count over longer sets or tournaments.
I can’t imagine Sagat being actually bad. Like maybe he isn’t meta shake up/sunder the tier list strong but he seems to be able to fuck people up well enough for those who are dedicated to tiger tiger tiger.
He was viable till S3 happened. Then S3.5 happened and Guile and Menat got buffed. Then Falke happened. Then Cody happened…
And now Sagat and G happened. 
There is just so much struggle an old lady can take. I have so much fun playing him. But he is not viable at all right now.
Hopefully S4 will bring him back so I can be rejoined with Gief!

People asking how Sagat is gonna make comebacks without V-trigger. I dont know, chipping you out with +3 tiger shots seems like a good start.
The other thing about Sagat is that he’ll have Menat issues until people sort out how to play match ups. Its week 1, he doesnt really have a solid ass gameplan against most of the cast yet. Wait til people get a month under their belt with him. Once things get shook out we’ll really be able to tell where he sits.
Why are you surprised? Daigo could’ve said fang and Alex are top tier and some people would’ve took their statement serious because of their status in the FGC. Character evaluations are super tricky. If you need evidence of this just look at James Chen opinion of Cammy.
If I’m trash with a character it means they’re probably good
If I can sometimes win with a character it means they’re probably low tier

Sagat’s VT2 is solid enough with his damage dump to make comebacks. Not super fraud Menat/Ibuki/Rog ones, but he can do it.
Like Guile you dont need to make comebacks if you have the range and safety to keep the lead and stay the lead. This is a Sagat where the regular and VT combos definitely hurt and has one of the longer plus 3 frame trap buttons in the game.
Everyone knows Chen looks at Cammy with shit stained glasses but as a former Camy main I know why.
She’s basically a live by the sword character. When you live by the sword it’s fucking easy to scream honest or fair because your character can get sneezed on and fucking die.
Cammy feels fucking stupid as fuck till you actually play her and then you’re like “ooooh that’s what it feels like.”
Perfect example of this is when I fight Pookie. This dude can beat me with his day 1 Fang but the moment he clicks Cammy we go blow for blow or I’m just steam rolling her. Pookie excels at footsies yet the he can barely play the footsie god character. And this isn’t a knock on him at all it just the Cammy train don’t feel so god when all your air options are getting fuck up and you die off one reset.
Menat comebacks are pure and always earned you heathen
I give her fraud a pass because it generally requires setting up and not just hit the V Trigger button over and over until they die like Rog. It’s more akin to custom combo type comebacks for me.
Can anyone confirm if sagats fb recovery is the fastest in the game? Sure as hell looks like it. Where any other character would get punished for throwing a fb it seems sagat recovers just in time to dp.
