SFV lounge: London we have a Problem X. SFV gave us the Burger King again

Also a serious question for you guys

I think the reason I feel so lost right now is that I really enjoy Menat, but am desperate to find a character to pair with her to cover match-ups where she has trouble controlling the opponent (ie Rashid) and just have trouble finding something that both works for Menat and works for me. And as you’ve all seen, I’m garbage at theory fighting and figuring that kind of thing out myself

So curious what characters you guys think would cover Menat well, and I can work through the list to see if I can finally find something I’m happy with, instead of randomly going through the entire cast once a week (which isn’t nearly enough time anyway) and just re-discovering how much I don’t like half the cast

@DevilJin_01 How about you start since you are good honest mod person who’s also played me

Play Cammy, Guile or akuma.

This G anti air combo Nemo is doing to people is out of control. I’d let more characters be able to do those types of shenanigans TBH.

Cammy’s always a weird one for me

In theory she should fit, but every time I play her it just feels like something’s…missing

Not in a “she needs something to be good” kind of way but a…I dunno how to best describe it. I just don’t enjoy using her.

I hate charge so Guile’s not gonna work

Akuma I’ve thought about but playing with normals as stubby as his (even if his walkspeed is great) always feels weird, might try it again though

Says he picks characters more based on tools, how strong those tools are and how fun/varied his options are with the character. Says he doesn’t really get emotional attachments to the way the characters look or do things. He’ll just pick what’s good and fun. Dropped Nash for Ibuki after seeing the nerfs and feels it’s better to just move on when the tough gets too tough than wallowing in your lower tier problems.

Also says he feels his Ibuki can deal with any matchup so probably wont be playing any other characters very seriously for a while.

I would suggest you to use a character able to impose his will offensively, if Menat is a neutral monster then a character good at bypassing neutral can do the trick. Ibuki, Rashid or Mika comes to mind, they’re all good at forcing the opponent at being worried about your approach.

Give Birdie a try. Make sure you play him with the Mena haircut for maximum optimization.

I’ve just finished to rape a Necalli offline, he thought he was good now he reached Ultra Play, but he didn’t know my Zeku has Sharingan. After something like 25-3 he said he lost the will to play, he felt hopeless so I’m satisfied.

I can focus on G for a while now.

that’s the one good thing about Zeku: you get to troll the life out of people. Imma hit you with all this fake stuff and do a few real ones in between. I’ll let you sort out what was fake.

Wouldn’t Birdie have problems against the same characters Menat does?

That’s what birdie players claim and then they beat the match ups.

I conclude them to be liars.

Nobody asked me but I’ve been drinking so you’re getting it regardless:

Sometimes things like this are a manufactured roadblock. Look at all the pros that either don’t have secondaries, or if they do only break them out fairly rarely. I think with all the BS and scrambles in this game you can make up for a lot of match up issues through experience and having brass balls.

Play Menat and don’t worry about the coverage. Play her into the good, the bad, and the ugly. Play her until you’re blue in the face.

If at the end of all those games you still feel like you need coverage, then you’ll be extremely well informed as to what match ups you yourself really want a solution for and can pick a char from there. But you also may find that you can orb yourself out of just about anything.

Not breaking balls or anything. I had a similar bit of character paralysis, so hopefully it helps. Good luck however you decide to play it and may you never drop a VT1 combo. :bowing_man:

Daigat vs low tier

Daigat vs top tier

Not surprisingly Daigo’s Sagat makes Bonchan’s Sagat look rushdown based.

It more comes from how long I played SF x TK for. No matter how bad the match-up you always had a second character that could cover for the issues the point had. Similar-ish kind of deal except you don’t switch mid-match.

Daigo must have thrown like 5 tiger shots per round vs that Cammy. Matchup must be good for the king if Daigo can literally almost play without shots and beat Ultimate Grand Cammy.

Daigo-samas sagot was so booty it’s weird how that Cammy didn’t just steamroll him

Makes sense. And I also appreciate how it can help break up training a bit having a second char to work on.

Menat just seems well rounded enough that I think you could make it work well regardless.

Secondaries are also sort of weird for me in this game because you don’t get to pick in Ranked/Causal and I’m too lazy to switch.

Just grind it out with Menat solo. You’ll be better with her in the long run anyway.

Just had along battle lounge with a Gold player. Despite only being silver I actually edged him out. Sagat is fun. Don’t know what hell I’m doing with him but he’s fun. Even gave Falke a try and did okay.
