SF5 was in a position to be a great game in season 1, trash for season 2, less trash in season 3.
We’ll wait for season 4 to see what happens. So the game has been Trash for a year and a half of its existence; possibly trash on initial release but at least we could DP people.
I think what’s so frustrating is when top players spread this around. I think Ricki Ortiz said “Sagat ass” and didn’t even elaborate on what the fuck she was even saying.
Honestly shit like this is why I get so annoyed with Cammy in this game because people are like…

I respect wong’s comments on Sagat more than the others, cause even if he’s wrong he took the time to make a list of Sagat’s pros and cons so you can at least understand where he’s coming from and have a conversation about it

Top players are wrong a lot, infact most of them are wrong more than they are right out the gate when it comes to a character being bad.
I’m not a top player at all, but it doesn’t take me much to play and analyze a character and see where they’ll probably fall. Too bad that aint worth nothing and if you’re wrong like once you’re just a scrub lol.
Popular opinion and “preconceived notions” actually have a huge effect on fighters and all things “esports” before mena while a handful of people vocally was like “birdie is stupid” most would have said he’s good, mid or high mid.
Even now with alex and fang, people still want say they are trash tier when realistically they really only lose badly to the top tiers.
G is another example of a character that popular opinion is affecting. He’s not a good character really, but he’s fun, swaggy and can win once he gets pressure.
He has the same problems another so call low tier character has ahem alex.

Ricki Ortiz said on twitter she thought Chun was still top tier beginning of Season 2 when I was already done playing her with any seriousness the moment I saw her changes. I already knew it was done for Chun just looking at those changes and just said “yeah give it a few months and that will probably change”. I’m pretty sure she figured Chun wasn’t top tier anymore.
Like Cammy shouldn’t be witch hunted into obscurity and have the Capcops called on her every night (which is why I dont mind her being good), but she isn’t a character that beats you 100 percent on fundamentals either. Like said earlier, she doesn’t have commnad grab high/low mix ups but she mixes you up by baiting which way you should anti air and then forcing you to deal with heavy plus frame traps that lead to throw shimmies and counter hit combos that you can’t viably escape all the time.
Which is why it’s good Sagat entered the ring because like Falke, he’s one of the few characters that can pretty much shut her air mix up game down and force her to purely play grounded. Which grounded Cammy is still really strong, but I think that removes the unbearable element of her that puts her into top 5 for people.
I know this sounds bitch made but I’m gonna wait so see what BongChad says about the tiger man. He said he’s still gonna rock Nash but well def use him for CC Cup. He is probably gonna be putting in the most work to get the most mileage out of that character so he can live on more than ramen and wheat bread.
If he says he’s caca I’ll probably be inclined to at least look into why he feels that way. But this day 1 24 hours they’re booty meme shit is so annoying.
So imo, the game mechanic’s that the top tier can “exploit” kind of take the fun out of the game, specifically in casual matches. Unless you have a goal you are working towards playing sf5 is kind of a chore when all you fight are akuma’s, meant’s (although I actually don’t mind those fights) cammy’s, guiles etc etc…
The thing is once or if they are neutered, then its urien, bison, birdie, rog, mika, necalli,… etc etc
And it just keeps going from there.
I can tell you now, if you wondering about sagat… He’s bad good lol. If you play well (aka perfectly) you are probably going to win, unlike with alot of characters in this game. However they don’t make that easy for you at all. I think they are going to buff him season 4 tbh

What tier is Bison considered? I mean before he won Evo?
I’ve always been of the opinion that top players are not the be-all-end-all when it comes to determining how good a character is, especially when it’s so early. I remember back home in London just before SSF4’s release, at the pre-release event I had a chat with Zak Bennett and Ryan Hart, and they both told me they thought Dudley was undisputed top tier because of what they perceived to be great tools. Look how that turned out.
I think until we get a longer look there’s no way of knowing anything for absolute certain.
Bison was considered dog shit tier in season 1, pretty decent in season 2 and below top 5 but somewhere in top 10.
Problem X would probably rank him lower than top 10 cuz he’s an asshole.

And sometimes it takes literal decades for a top tier to be recognized, the character just lacks a player. (ST O.Hawk, 3S Oro, SSBM Puff)
And, notably, tier placement != viability. Sagat is actually the perfect example here; he got to an EVO grand finals in winners in his lacking USFIV-iteration, because his pilot knew exactly how to enhance his strengths and hide his weaknesses.
Hmm, so Kara Super is actually viable I guess at least for me. I did fMK and G reacted with his dash blow or whatever and I had enought time to react with Super. Also VT2 goes through his VT Blue Balls of death but I don’t know how to simulate it.

Also it’s ok for us to say memes like “SFV is trash” “Nash sucks” but “Profesisonal” players should not use fuggin’ twitter to evaluate the game. If Based Ricky O said Sagat sucked then s(he) should have made a short lil clip to showcase his major faults.
I don’t give a fuck about tier list either, and I hate theory fighting as always. Sagat good, we good, SFV gud, and we got 2 more slots on the character select to fill before Season 4 :^)
