The -2 is alive and well in this game.
Also, Young Zeku in the fresh green suit is too good.
Only the speed of the shots change, not the data. High is one set low is one set. Only the EX offer better better data. The high EX I think is almost unjumpable.
Points 1, 3 and 5 sound word for word like advice like that a Ryu/Ken player would give to another, which is surprising considering that Gatās fireballs are so much better, but not that surprising since itās still SFV.
The logic of āyou got fireballs, but they arenāt really good for anything except baiting the opponent to jumpā works for Ken, because Ken gets full oki on a successful uppercut. A single successful uppercut can be all he needs to run the oki train into the corner into a win.
Gat has much better fireballs, but if he canāt win on fireballs alone and his uppercut isnāt as rewarding as Kenās then whatās the play?
I think in the end Gat players will need to play a game thatās more movement heavy than theyāre used to, which is precisely why Capcom gave him actual walk speed and a HK tiger knee that can actually be spaced to be safe this time round.
I agree, but itāll still be movement based on zoning and not Oki. Ive personally been burning v reversals like itās going out of fashion and itās working since itās one of the best in the game. EX knee ender is going to be essential imo.
My Strat just now on turtles is the opposite of how Sagat should play ( mostly low shot), Iām peppering the screen with high shots and dashing in between. Basically Iām saying you jump this if you like, but youāll get AAd and Iām going to push you back.
Sagats dash is clearly meant for movement only and not attack.
The real problem is when youāve got a v-skill or special the completely disrespects the shots. Then you kinda canāt do anything.
I really want them to revisit some v skills and triggers in S4.
For example I really want more use out of Juriās uncharged vskill. But I fear most of their focus will be on implementing second CA.
They need to add v-specials to help you build v-metre alongside improving some of the weakest v-skills in the the game.
There need to be good, offensive ways to gain v-metre instead of only by being beaten up or by landing CCs.
Secondary CAs will be more than welcome because currently they pretty much do all the same thing (= add damage at the end of a combo). Would be interesting to have some Ginei-Jin stuff again for Zeku or a Counter CA for Kolin. Thereās definitely room for more diversity simply by looking at the seriesā past.
V-Skills need to be adressed as well though. Mentioned it earlier already but Falkeās V-Skill makes absolutely zero sense for example. Itās an anti-projectile tool that doesnāt build any bar and doesnāt even put you in an advantageous situation for landing it and to top it off itās also way harder to time correctly than similar V-Skills (Nash, Bison, G, Menat). Itās just awful all around.
Part of the deal is that itās much easier to avoid throwing ābad fireballsā when your fireballs are waaaaay better than Ryu/Ken. Hell, sometimes what would be a bad shoto fireball is an excellent Sagat fireball since his recovery is shorter and you get to counter their anti-fireball-attempt. Longer range on normals and better pushback (this is often overlooked, but itās a HUGE deal) also makes it easier to keep your opponent at your desired range.
But itās true that you canāt run the momentum from a single uppercut like Ken can. You get your damage, and have to be content with getting to choose the next interaction at neutral. Iām pretty happy about this since it means I wonāt have to deal with the typical SFV up-close scrambles, but it does mean you have to keep winning neutral repeatedly (which Sagat is very well equipped to do in a lot of MUs) rather than using momentum from neutral to take rounds.
Yeah it is. You been missing out on a lot more than that though. But fortunately, there are a lot of things that sf5 has that oldschool doesnāt. So you are still getting some good stuff here and there, kinda.
Fireballs are always risky regardless of how solid his are, you open yourself to jumps with each one. Thereās no avoiding the inherent risk of fireball zoning.
Basically, scared to throw shots, donāt play sagat.
A revision to the v-system Iād like to see is EX v-reversals. Actual reversals for characters with nothing, and combo filler for the rest.
Unintentional mid-screen fake crossup. Caught us both off guard. I wanted a back roundhouse. Reminds me of the good old SFxT days.
I am having way too much fun learning Falke. She is like Rose light.
There is a serious risk I may not end up going back to Gief at the end of this experience.
I am too old for that 7-3 MU shit and Gief has too many of them right now.
And I think he might have gotten another one this week. Sagat unsurprisingly seems to shut down Gief pretty hard.
I do kinda wonder how Sagat fares against the other grapplers. Iād imagine he beats all of them, but with the scumbaggery certain characters seem to have available, it probably relies on just how efficiently he can keep them out.
Sagat was a confirmed 7-3 even before release.
So this season we got at least 3 new 7-3 MUs against Gief with Falke, Cody and Sagat.
And with how things are going, G may as well be another 7-3 MU for him.
Yooo the King is fucking dope.
Got me back playing again.
Iām glad people reinstalled SFV because of Sagat or our President, but the game is still the same. Accepting SFV for what it is can help, because struggling moments are definitely coming.
I wish G came out before EVO, he is incredibly hype and fun to both watch and play as.
Might be unpopular opinion but he is the most charismatic character in the game since Mika & Gief IMO. Maybe Abigail was the closest thing when it came to cheer charisma and hype.
