SFV lounge: London we have a Problem X. SFV gave us the Burger King again

Tekken got balance patch after Evo

Your turn Capcom

The whiff jHP into crHP is still the greatest thing Iā€™ve ever seen, second is the jMP then he hit confirms the second hit, GODLIKE

I honestly think capcom saw this match and designed sf5 with that in mind.

Literally convinced this was their inspiration. They wanted mashers to beat experienced players.

I dunnoā€¦mashers will die a fast death in SFV outside of mashing EXā€¦that Ryu player couldnā€™t do that shit in SFV since we have crush counters and its one thing novice to ultra instinct diamond players learn and thatā€™s how to use those CC normals

edit somebody find that Ghandi!

No that literally was their plan. Level the playing field, I mean you canā€™t fault them, it worked.

Also has anyone else experienced that cross play just deteriorated rapidly in the last couple weeks? I canā€™t play PlayStation dudes now, Ive had to cut em loose. Like 80% lag fest.

My dude, itā€™s been terrible across the board, and Iā€™m a PS4 player myself.
PS4 players not hooked up, crossplay deteriorating, lag being uneven.
I dread the 3rd match because itā€™s always the laggiest and itā€™s impacting my play.
I just want to get it over, not even focused on learning, because thereā€™s nothing to be gained from a 3rd match.

I try to stay positive and thank god this isnā€™t SF4 online, but itā€™s far from good.

I could accept all the dumb shit in this game if they could just get rid of this lag mess.

I know ken is gonna dash/run why am I losing and he should be hella negative. Iā€™m mashing jab.

Itā€™s way worse with fuck head bison. Gotta make sure you donā€™t whiff on his dash or get CCā€™d. Donā€™t wanna chance it? Hold throw.

I really think itā€™s also cause thereā€™s no parry/focus system and you canā€™t whiff punish reliably. So you just gota hold the block from the noobs. SF5 boxes donā€™t help either. I sometimes try and position myself to whiff punish but the majority of spammy buttons move the character forward, itā€™s very hard to judge.

If the button just stayed stationary the footsie game would be easier. But you got shit like Bisons axe or even Kenā€™s HK. Messes you up and most low mediums are stubby, slow or donā€™t cancel into a special.

Parry/focus systems were generally not liked by older players and which is why they removed any universal counter systems in V. Less complaints if you only make certain characters focus on tools that counter/parry buttons than allowing everyone to do it. They decided it was time to bring back a game where the buttons have to fight the buttons. In SF2/Alpha if you didnā€™t have a DP or fireball you had to just button the buttons, super them or alpha counter them outside of whiff punishing.

Kenā€™s HK is definitely one of the easier heavies to whiff punish if you have good forward/back walk. One of the longer recovering heavies so he canā€™t really throw it all day vs characters with good walk like Cammy Akuma and Ibuki. Characters that are big or have slower walk he can throw it more.

Bipson is interesting. I think heā€™s like Makoto where he just has to be scummy because of the way heā€™s designed. Heā€™s like a Makoto or Dudley that doesnā€™t have a command grab or an overhead so he has to be able to throw big buttons around. Without that he basically wouldnā€™t be able to function as he doesnā€™t have the walk speed to play footsies traditionally outside of when someone walks into his space. He theoretically has the buttons to play footsies, just due to his style has to play them in positions at best.

DPs having no safe out on block is good and fit their commitment shtick, just certain other things they forced commitment on that werenā€™t necessary.

Falke beats Akuma

I forgot I saved this quote from a while ago.

Lol at people pretending that derp DPs are more prevalent in SFV than SFIV. Apparently lack of invincible frames on meterless, crush counter state on recovery and opponent having 3f leverage to link combos somehow makes online Kens more successful than ever.

What used to be a tough matchup now is a free win. Admittedly, dash throw and ambiguous jump from neutral are the new flavor of randomness in SFV but hell, this BS is fall more fun to perform.

Most older players hate SF5 or at least dislike it. The game theory is sound, but it doesnā€™t have the parts.

You canā€™t make a buttony game with shit buttons. Thatā€™s like making a sniper game with machine guns.

What I really dislike is that I can be 100% certain something is going to happen, but I canā€™t do anything about it.

Saying all that Sagat is fun, cause heā€™s old school.

Actually the game is shit because the theory isnā€™t sound at all. This is an SF game by people who donā€™t seem to like street fighter all that much. The game has gotten better because they keep adding things that make you play Street Fighter as opposed to that shit show thing we had before.

We still have all the stupid shit and it ruins the game. Its just that now we can spend some time in the middle of the screen instead of half to another meaty/shimmy situation.

ā€œplaying Street Fighterā€ is such a blanket statement given each iteration plays so differently, and if youā€™re referring to ground fundamentals to control neutral to force favourable scenarios, any Tokido match can show you that those are still imperative to being world class.

I donā€™t think any character aside from post buff roided Abigail has destroyed that concept in SFV.

I like to think that with each move thereā€™s a counter, with each play thereā€™s a cost vs reward. In other words your actions have to have decisions behind them. Thatā€™s why I think characters like Sakura are well balanced.

This game has none of that. If you slice the tier list in half youā€™ve got one street fighter game and one marvel game.

There are definitely low commitment options but I donā€™t think consistent flowcharting to those options when you run out of ideas can take you very far, all I can think of is Rashid really because his neutral is super linear

Isnt that any SF game since turbo?

Marvelicious Side:

ST - Vega, O.Sagat, Sim
Alpha - V. Akuma, any V char
3s - Yun, Makoto, Akuma
SF4 - Yun, E.Ryu, Makoto, Seth

Traditional SF Side:

Take your pick.

The bullshit changes per game itā€™s become a contest of which bullshit you prefer tbh, just different flavours

Iā€™m kind of happy this brainless Ken took so much life off Bonchan because that stuff happens to me all the time. AA five times in a row: ā€˜Surely I can now throw out a heavy button on the groundā€™ but then he jumps a sixth time, gets a full combo and corner carry and actually gets the life lead and positional advantage for playing like a complete idiot.
