SFV lounge: London we have a Problem X. SFV gave us the Burger King again

Part of it is just keeping with the devil you know considering Sony had funded Capcom and the CPT for so long. It can throw some people’s timing off to play on a different platform that doesn’t have the lag intervals that PS4 does. The same reason people didnt like switching between PS3 and 360 during SFIV days. Speed differences and such were enough to keep people preferring to playing on what they knew. Other than a whole sweeping switch to PC for all CPT tourneys it’s just unnecessary hassle to be the PC event in an event that’s Sony based (and has its final event at a Sony convention).

For whatever reason they were also having controller issues, so there’s that also.

Windows was also updating middle matches. They had to stop the pools for 2 hours so all the stations would finish updating.
That was a major mess.

I mean, that’s just bad organizing, not the fault of Windows. They could have just checked for updates the day before pools began. If updates happen while your PC is on, you can always delay them till you turn the PC off.

Yeah, that was the TOs fault. This whole event was a mess.

It’s even so much of a mess that Capcom Fighters Youtube only has part of the top 8 footage up. The video stops in the middle of placing for 7th. Glad I wasn’t watching it live because the stream issues seemed unbearable.

Looks like they have the rest of the footage up now finally.

Pc version is objectively better if you know how to prevent windows issues.
X360 was objectively better than ps3 one. I don’t recall anyone asking for the tournaments to run on ps3s.

About to start my online weekly against a grandmaster Akuma player.
This will be fun.
Even more so because I still don’t know this MU well with Falke.

China has always been a hell hole for gaming, I expected nothing less.

Isn’t game consoles banned in China ?

That’s mainly because old AA jabs were dealing with old AA jump buttons that had bigger hurt boxes so it was easier to jab at them (plus changes to those hit boxes).

With what is left of the AA jabs, the standing stuff like Sagat and Abi are among the best now. Abi’s is a bit better than Sagat’s for preemptive purposes, but mainly you want to use AA jabs to stuff a button before they release any way. If you have a standing one. Sagat’s s.LP can beat Ryu j.HP if you’re far enough away (like about a couple character lengths or more). Walking backwards a bit before doing it helps, but that’s the range where buffer LP TU works plenty fine any way.

With jumping vs Ibuki air EX kunai, technically you can just react to her jumping in the air.

When I play Ibuki vs other characters like Guile they usually just play a “jump if she jumps” gameplan where you can meet her air to air with button or come down on top of with button depending on range. The Ibuki player here purposely tried to air EX kunai out of the range of most normal jump buttons (but I could have stuck out something with range like j.MP or j.HP). Either way neutral jumping in general on reaction or anticipation depending on how scrambly the round is getting is overall better than being on the ground where the bad stuff happens. Even if you get air to aired. oh well better than air EX Kunai juggle into VT2 shenanigans or LP raida to meaty.

Daigo generally jumps vs air EX kunai and usually works well for him if they dont catch him on a boom or something.

It’s tempting to do the same against Akuma, especially if they have V-trigger.

Don’t do that if Akuma is close to you. You will be hit with air fireballs into srk and will have to guess.

don’t imo. His air fireball have way better hitbox than Ibuki’s and his air normals are strong, Ibuki, not so much.

He also have a much better jump arc.

Lost 2x1 against this actually ultimate grand master Akuma. And all matches were quite close.
That was very fun.

My Falke is coming along fairly nice.

I see. While we’re at it, what’s the best range to play against him while he’s on V-Trigger? Assuming I’m not close to the corner I just backdash and let the fireballs hit the ground than trying to AA or press back and try to block the incoming nonsense, but giving up so much space sucks.

I should probably try a secondary since Necalli feels like a 3.5-6.5 matchup. Which is Akuma’s worst matchup? Bonchan makes a very compelling case for Sagat but who has been the goto counterpick?

Birdie wins vs Akuma. Not by a huge amount but definitely at least 5.5.

Fuudo counter picked Abao’s Akuma with Birdie at Esports HK Festival

You don’t need secondary if you are using necalli. You have vskill which is good and akuma bleeds if he makes a mistake.
Don’t corner yourself when he has vt. You want to be close enough to dash under fireballs and save atleast one ex bar, so you can aa him.
Try to force him to spend vt. Cover you legs and don’t try to jump out. If you are in block stun, just take a throw or ex reversal if you are brave.

Personally, i hate fighting abigail and tokido often loses to him. He has the health to gamble, Akuma does not. Boxer was pretty though in s2, but he is managable now.

Yeah Necalli vs Akuma can’t be worse than slight advantage for Akuma. Akuma has better ground game but Necalli definitely has some of the better options vs Akuma ground fireballs and his air shit. Especially once you get V Trigger where that walk speed and forward dash threaten any air shit he wants to do. If he does air fireball and you dash under he’s dead (other than lucky scenario where the air fireballs protect him on the way down, but could combo into super if you have it).

Only lp air fireball hits on the other side.
You can recognize it if you test it out in training.

Makes sense.

Oh yeah also forgot that Mena beat Tokido at CPT 2017 with good old Birdie. c.MP and bullhorn go through most of his air shit and he gets whiff punished on the ground pretty easily. Birdie is definitely the best at forcing Akuma to stick to basic shoto stuff and can win from there.

No scare fireball VTC

Sagat neutrally is probably the 2nd best character ATM vs Akuma. Just not as damaging whiff punishes or offense as Birdie. Bullhorn probably near best thing in the game vs Akuma air fireball.
