Im trying not to get to involved here because like the other dude said, conversations about american hot button issues rarely go in a civilized fashion.
But the answer is somewhere in the middle. Guns are an issue, our society and the way we fantasize about guns is an issue, mental health is an issue. The combo leads to the kind of violence we currently deal with.
But like i said earlier, our country is so fucked up that people can’t see past their political affiliations enough to attempt real compromise. Convo never goes farther than dont touch any of my guns vs ban all guns, then we insult each other
It doesn’t because 90% of the time people are asking to pass laws that are already in the books. Or you get situations like the one in Oregon where they can confiscate your guns without due process. As I already mentioned, there were 3 different shootings that would’ve been prevented had the proper steps being taken with the laws already written. People glossed that over because
Its a complicated issue because: 1) It is a constituionally protected right (which a lot of places can’t being dealing with what that means for the U.S.), 2) most lay people don’t understand the technology of guns themselves or what to ask for, 3) a lot of people don’t know statistics on gun, 4) a lot of people would rather have an opinion than actually learn and be informed.
Uninformed posturing will do nothing to move the conversation forward in any productive way. All that happened yesterday with the people replying to me was legitimately uninformed nonsense for the most part. Get educated so you can actually discuss this with people who are big on the 2nd amendment.
Scroll all the way up if you want to laugh. Purbeast got specailly mad when I told him he when I mentioned that car deaths far outnumber gun deaths in the US. This thread did more to show why the conversation will never move forward than anything else: one side very obviously is all up in their feelings and the other is willing to cite sources.
All of yesterday was people grandstanding. By and large most of the gun related incidents in the US happen with hand guns but politicians are still trying to ban rifles. They have to do that or admit that one of the deadliest shootings (the Virginia Tech one) was committed with hand guns. So yeah, this thread is clown shoes on the topic. Rednecks aren’t actually shooting up much and neither are wanna be gangster. For sure people on psychotropic medications are high risk though; and if you wanted to curtail a lot of the violence, you’d legalize drugs so a lot of gangs had nothing to fight over (like it happened with US Alcohol Prohibition). You can take a lot of shaves at it from a lot of angles but afterwards you’ll have to accept the tiny % of crazy fuckers running around.
Axl is looking MANLY there.
I wonder how Abadede will look in this style. There is no way they will do a SOR game and not add him with his classic theme to it.
