SFV lounge: London we have a Problem X. SFV gave us the Burger King again

Not reading all of that but I do think the concept of players have stages of play differs between level of play.

I’m never in one specific mindset unless I’m forced into making a steep adaptation quickly, in which case I’ll play passive and observe to formulate my adjustments as quick as possible within that round.

Otherwise I think anyone who plays the game to a high level can do both simultaneously and needs to be shut down hard to be forced into passive observing.

I’m not talking about mindsets though.

I’m talking about something more fundamental and fast changing.

When you play, your mind is constantly processing information on the screen and based on that information you make decisions. There is a continuous feedback loop between perceive-decide-act that is taking place.

The lag time between perceive and act is what I’m referring too.

Frost I ended up getting busy today so couldn’t play, but wanna get some games in later this week. @Mike_MF_Hall LMK what’s going on with you also

Oh yea. Im pretty sure i slipped a disc in my back on Friday. Can’t sit up straight for more than like 30 minutes at a time before i feel like crying.

But I’ll let you know when my back feels better

I don’t think G is that good. His VT stuff is neat but I dunno…not feeling the major threat yet. Command grabs in SFV universally trigger me by 4.25% so it’s not that.

Also what happen with Bochan at the last tournament? You guys said he did not go Sagat? Any Nemo sightings?

Ive done it twice, had back surgery both times (microdiscectomy) I don’t wish that kind of pain on anyone, get an MRI ASAP.

Shit sucks, man. Get better.

Looks like one of my old posts. Nice. Good read. I agree with the concepts you outlined, I’ve said the same in the past, especially the off tempo observation.

You have a new way of stating the distinction between “focus” and just doing shit. Me personally… take highlandfireball as an example, though he’s definitely not the only one to notice this pattern in our play… when I’m “baiting” ie, in the “observe” phase as you call it… lots of times… especially in sf5, I will stop pressing buttons… this is a HUGE Telegraph that I’m waiting for something and any decent player can just look at my current spacing and meter, plus look at the matchup and the will basically know what I trying to do, and won’t as an example, throw a fireball at me just so I can super through it on reaction.

The obvious counter to this is to stop being so inactive when baiting, which actually works, but having the presence of mind mid match against a good opponent isn’t easy. But that is what makes a good read or strategy rewarding in the first place.

Back pain is the fuckin worst. You feel like a big crippled baby :frowning:

A friend of mine had a disc problem, but it was his leg that hurt, so it took him months to find out.

Had a minor disc injury almost 20 years ago. Not being able to get out of bed one day made it the scariest day of my life.

If surgery is not required, bed rest and regular stretching (physio therapy if you can get it) is really all you need.

Google up on the right sleeping position- sleeping the right way is super underrated, and sleeping the wrong way just puts additional stress on your back when you’re supposed to be “resting”. If your injury is in the lower back, lying flat on your back with knees straight is a big no no.

Man is saying knife attacks are higher in Scotland, not those tragedies you listed. @Pertho

But yeah, the mass shootings that happen YEARLY makes me wonder why guns are so freely available.

Also, who wins out of Sagat vs Ryu?

Ryu wins. Better mobility better buttons,a good enough fireball and he can parry Sagat’s fireballs for free.

Sagat bug fix +costumes = 6hrs of nothing online

I really love spending time in the lab just working on what most consider the simple things.

Many months back, I had trouble consistently doing Karin’s quick Tenko. I’d always get it every other time I tried it, which made it unreliable during a match. I wasn’t playing her too often, so I didn’t really care too much. When I took some time to actually practice get the timing down, it eventually felt like second nature. Now I feel a lot more comfortable playing her in general.

Starting to play around with Falke more often, too. Me and these blondes…

The prominence in the media over shootings such as this one tend to make one assign more importance to it than it deserves. Look up WYSIATI. It’s a psychological principle and explains the knee-jerk reactions you see in this thread. The chances of dying in a gun-related incident are tiny, even in the US.

Anyway, it’s not a gun issue. It’s an IQ issue combined with poor regulation. Inbred rednecks and wannabe ghetto rappers with guns is a deadly cocktail. In a civilized society, guns have their place. The Swiss are armed to the teeth as well, and they don’t go around shooting each other up.

Made an appointment for today. Im not sure if its my disc yet but i can tell you it doesn’t feel like muscle pain. Much more like a knife in my spine and the pain goes to my hips at different times

I messed up a disc in my lower lumbar like 10+ years ago doing squats wrong on the smith machine. It was diagnosed as partially bulging. To this day I still have some issues but I’d say it is like 95%, and it really only gets aggrivated if I sleep weird or if I do heavy deadlifts or squats and just tweak it.

The thing that helped me the most is an inversion table. I got one like 5 years after I hurt it and within a week, after using it 2x a day for 5 minutes, my back felt better after that week than it had in the 5 years since I hurt it.
