SFV Lounge: Ken is high mid. Kage is barely mid. F2P still coming

Ryus cr.hp into tatsu isn’t considered a cancel combo since you can’t buffer the tatsu, is that considered a link combo then? And you also can’t wait too much after the cr.hp either so is that a one frame combo?

Well whatever we finally decide I’m definitely down. One way to organize could be by region.

Another Vegeta and 2 and a half Gokus? I believe it.

That’s a cancel, Ryu can’t link anything after cr. HP. It’s punishable even on hit, so you have to confirm it or cancel it into something safe like EX fireball or even fireball if cr. HP is used from max range.

It’s a cancel? So like a cr.mk into fireball? Seems like you have to do it a tad slower than a true cancel but I guess I need to practice more, thanks.

In order for something to count as a link, you have to let the move finish in its entirety before you connect the next move. Canceling the move late is still canceling so it’s in no way a link.

Anyone else planning on giving samurai spirits a shot? The trailer really looked good, but I’m thinking if it’ll have a good online community.

Samurai Showdown is SNK and I am an SNK fan.
I am definitely giving it a shot. Unlike KOF XIV, it will be SO GOOD and won’t look like trash.

Huh? Doesn’t every character have link combos?

I think he might mean more links? Maybe like the SF4 variety where many characters had multiple links and could even fit 2 links into 1 combo without using meter or special? Like Ryu could do cr. LP, cr. MP, cr. HK.

So like do you want 2 frame links? Because 1f links are trash and the buffer in SFV makes 1f and 2f links into 3f links.

I run into this guy all the time haha.

I prefer the games that didn’t have many links. They just don’t really do much for me and exacerbate the bnb theory too much. I like just having a go to set of bnbs and that works for me. Alpha 2 and 3S both work like that so works for me. SFV’s link system is still a step up in variety from 3S as characters like Urien and Alex had shit for links until they landed into SFV. Now Urien is a link monster especially now that he’s finally in a game (CFJ doesn’t count) where counter hits add extra stun.

SFIV is more along the lines of CVS2 where you have links up the ass except SFIV’s input priority system allows the 1 frame links to be viable if you plink and bind your stick up. In CVS2 you just had to raw input your 1 frames and hope it worked out. Meaning you only went for them if you were really feeling yourself.

ST had a good middle ground where you did have a lot of light confirms for some characters but it wasn’t like a whole large part of the cast. You could do more esoteric links but it was usually one link and that was it unless you landed like a perfect jump in from an NKI combo video.
