They could always just redesign T.Hawk. I’m pretty sure Rashid was built with cultural sensitivity in mind just like Shaheen in Tekken.
It’s so fucking tilting getting lag or rollback during a stun combo. Legit one combo into super and win, but no. Netcode goes to shit and you lose.

SF characters are deffinitely stereotypes, but they seem mostly good-spirited.
I mean, the four most recognizable japanese characters are a hobo, a demon, an obsessive fangirl and a guy who’s really pissed that nobody gives a shit about sumo wrestling. They’re certainly not being nice to themselves there

As long as the characters are interesting it kinda doesn’t matter to me what they are. Im just pointing out that some of the designs are probably outdated

If Rashid is the best Capcom can do while being sensitive I would rather they dial the stereotypes up to 11. Current Rashid is the most bland, most uninspired fighting game character I’ve ever seen besides characters like Ryu who are supposed to be simple.
It’s interesting that you’re comparing Rashid to Ryu because according to interviews with the designers Rashid was designed exactly to be a “main character” like Ryu but with much more emphasis on technology and modernity. That’s why he’s dressed in white in his default (like Ryu) and he has that weird scouter on his eye.

Rashid design is pretty cool, his character is bad though. None of the SF characters really have strong depth of character, the reason we like them so much is due to nostalgic value.

This is pretty much why I rather have them create characters with no explicit nationality disclosed or vaguely hinting a region at best. As soon as a flag is stamped on a character, the number one priority becomes to play it the safest in order to avoid offending anyone in an era when getting offended at anything is a sport in itself, which means a shallow and mediocre character that is never allowed to be himself or herself.
The more unknowns and the less the country flags the better.

I wouldn’t say Rashid is trying hard to avoid backlash, his design just isn’t insulting. None of the SF designs were particularly insulting and all played off of cool stereotypes rather than joke ones, apart from like Rufus. Can’t think of any others.
Rashid still has a big old easterner beard, they play into a genie vibe with his mentor/caretaker dude.

Honestly it’s something that’s probably never crossed my mind once in over 30 years of street fighter.
I pick characters because of cool moves or fun aspects, I don’t know if that makes me weird or just normal.
Anybody getting offended about a CPU character probably needs their head checked. If they were to make a Scottish character no doubt he’d be an alcoholic skirt wearing grounds keeper willy that head butts you to death and carrys a knife. So fuck, it’s probably right.

I played what I assume was a Bison that just recently made Diamond league(I think he only had around 14k points). His main strategy revolved around random slides and burning almost every meter for EX DR. And unfortunately this was a very effective strategy against me lol. I won every set 2-0 or 2-1 but I’m pretty disappointed at how much I struggled to win.
The way he played upset me so much that instead of trying to play more solid, I just went crazy myself. But man WTF do you even do against EX DR? After I AA’d it a number of times he was like “fine, I’ll make it whiff”. There were also a number of times where I tried to do Akuma’s parry kick and i would absorb 1 hit and then the kick would whiff. I tried to jump away a number of times and then got hit because he would delay his descent so much.
Do I just gotta deal with it and block? As bad as people make EX DF sound sometimes, it can countered without that much effort. Why is EX DR so stupid that even a player like that can get to Diamond with it?
