I don’t mind the fan service in DOA so much because they remember we ladies exist too and push fan service costumes and hot male characters to appeal to us as well, even if in lower number than the fan service for men.

Still, it was delicious to see people crying about it on the DOA 6 reveal while we had Helena there with all the sexy woman vibes and outfit.

DOA6 will be so good, though. I can’t wait to throw people around with Bass and Tina.

Can’t speak for you but i just like it because its a rare thing in SFV. 3 normals (not a target combo) into special is not a sfv thing, especially 3 lights. Its fun seeing them break their dogmatic rules for character designs.

Not going to lie , I wouldn’t have given Rachel a try in DOA5 if she was dressed like a nun or if she had been an old man à la Gen-Fu. But after deciding that she’d be my main I didn’t exclusively pick the leather strap dominatrix outfit.

DOA always had enough costume variety in the base game to make everyone feel comfortable, from the fap-hungry otaku to the most backyard prude. DLC costumes obviously favoured the sexy but I don’t remember Team Ninja forcing you at gunpoint to by Honoka bikinis.

@Frost

Who are Cody’s bad matchups now? Thinking about it he’s lines up well with how I want to play. May have to accept it and play him.

I may not be any good at this SFV thing, but I have been analysing replays for people in the bronze and silver leagues at PauloWeb’s discord channel, giving them tips and teaching how to read some of the frame data.

And now they are gaining ranks. It is being so satisfying to see that happen and even see some of them reach gold themselves. :slightly_smiling_face:

Does juris anti fb charge hit 2 times? As in you have to block twice one when she’s in front and two when she crosses in back of you?

No, the first one leaves you in blockstun long enough so you just need to block that.

Do people actually block like that? I never come off block even during true strings. Too scared lol

Seen some vids of Neutral Kombat 11 soooo farrrrrrrr

  • I like that run is gone. I actually kinda don’t like it because NK has been a run game for a long time. That’s just been its thing, but NK11 will give the game more of an MK2 without the run. Still seems to be a dash and short hop kinda thing. The worst of NK is the MK9/X shit where even though there is “neutral” people are just running forward closing the gap instantly all the time and then the combo system immediately puts people into elongated combos that make the neutral way less of a focus.

  • Not impressed by the fatalities so far. Only one or so I kinda like, but I don’t think they have the same kinda impact so far that MKX’s did. The dramatic finish where half of them are left suspended in mid air makes the fatalities look incomplete and you don’t really get to see them lifeless at the end. Weird in concept and execution.

Some fatalities like Sonya’s where she knocks you 50 feet in the air and shoot you into helicopter blades are already ACME cartoon levels or ridiculous, then when it’s done in an indoor stage with a 10 foot ceiling it’s even more ridiculous. Someone getting their face ripped off with no screaming or gurgling like they’re a dummy for a war combat weaponry tv show is lame too. I just don’t see how people are gonna look at some of this stuff without laughing or scratching their head at the end.

  • Offense/defense meter doesn’t impress me much. From what I’ve seen so far offense meter is basically EX meter and defense meter is basically wake up kick meter and maybe something else that I don’t remember. The split will be slightly interesting for meter management, but otherwise it doesn’t do anything for me. Nowhere near as interesting as its being hyped up and I’ve seen it in other games any way.

  • Regenerative meter thing doesn’t impress me much yet either. Seems to regenerate at a flat rate no matter what character you play or what situation you’re in. Might as well just have ammo for your offensive and defensive options and it’d have similar effect.

  • Animations are about the same. Cinematic stuff is cool, some animations in gameplay are ok and the rest is just eh to really bad. Raiden has this hook kick that doesn’t make any sense to perform and it animates real bad. Canned punch/kick strings still don’t convey motion very well and just look like someone is hitting play on an old film. Can’t get into it at all. Characters like Geras have typical American martial arts flick canned fighting styles that just don’t convey anything believable at all. Just looks like he learned his martial arts from a McDojo and then has powerz.

  • Variations coming back is cool. Jist of it is most every character can be a zoner or a grappler. Good in some ways, in other ways won’t really matter too much as whoever is best at zoning or rushdown will be best at it regardless and there will be a lot of gimmick variations like usual.

  • Critical blow thing is pretty cool. Adds in some old school MK discovery/secret type stuff within the gameplay although I’ll assume it’s explained in their moves list regardless.

  • If Combo Breakers are gone I’ll like that. With the shorter combo system they probably feel it’s not necessary any way and MK’s combo breaker system ties with TvC’s for most braindead and predictable combo breaker system out there. Pretty much just beat the opponent up enough and then you are going to be dealing with a static breaker. Boring, not necessary.

  • Fatal Blow system is nothing amazing, but it makes X Rays go from useless to useful so hey. Sonicfox already explained that they’ll most likely generically fall into most used to end a match so application still kinda static regardless.

  • Scarlet looks cool.

Overall can’t complain so far. Biggest issue is again it’s NK so not really going to get into it either way and nothing was impressive to me. Just either ok that’s better than before or ok that’s just there. Think they should adjust those suspended dramatic fatalities that don’t actually finish and do a bit more to the fatalities that are just ultra cheesy and out of belief.

I’ll play it for 10 minutes. Probably.

thats actually not true, it fills faster up in certain situations but as of now its unclear to me which they are.

Yeah it would need that at minimum to be anything barely impressive, but if that’s all then can’t be impressed still.

Really? I could have sworn I blocked the first time but juri hit me from behind. And that happened over and over.

I swear so many people would make it out of gold if they just stopped flowcharting when what they are doing clearly isn’t working. Like every Ken at that rank, and there are many, plays exactly the same lol.

yes, you can simply hold down back to block both hits, and remember, it’s -18 on block

uhhhh…

Menat, Chun, Karin, Bison. Couple more, Guile is probably a lot easier now, his EX Tornado Shot buff kinda made fighting plasma characters bearable.

Weaker against the fastwalk footsie oriented types, MU gets harder if they also possess a fireball along with that, so Chun is really fuckin difficult in my experience.

Companies don’t think like that. It’s kinda wrong to think if something is done wrong will always be wrong in future. No one in the from 2009 would expect a future DB fighter would became like that, or bamco needing arcsys to make a DB game. if you would apply those logic.

DBFZ was kinda direct competition to what MVCi is and they did it via surprise, we even didn’t hear news that Bamco is making a competive DB fighter, Bamco is partnering with Arcsys for anime video game or Arcsys is making a 3v3 fighter, because those kinda news tends to raise rumors and speculation. What we got is instead was instant and clear idea that they are doing a 3v3 DB fighter together during late MVCi development.

it isn’t like ordinary thing that Bamco usually do. If Bamco was just taking it as an entry in FGC they just did an interesting gameplay mechanics with DB character, but instead they choose to collaborate with ARCSYS.

The fact that Bamco has the resources to create their own cell shaded fighter, like they did this with tons of anime games already as a proof but in DBFZ they want more and take it to a whole new level that why they went into a “partnership” with another different company. It’s not the usual DB games.

Yes the PR too because of the wrong words, that became memes but those can easily be worked around later if they produce a better retail and release the game in the better time. Blaming the PR, or whoever in management and believing everything would be better because of a replacement isn’t something a solution, because we have no definite idea and basis of skill’s and priorities present of the so called “replacement”? even those so called PR. It’s kinda like those vaportalks without present realistic ideas.

Yet I believe in timing is a huge factor on this if they let DBFZ came out first and release it along with the movie hype. Then re-access position and change their decision to compromised with the current events. They may have the upper hand in the later, since DBFZ mainstream appeal starts to go slow and stale.

I believe Capcom isn’t the sole trendsetter anymore like they were in the 90s, but not in the worst and still in the mainstream along with Tekken nowadays.

Chun? Gross. Season 4 fucked me.

Gief getting buffs, grappler players coming out of the woodwork, Abigail exists. Smh
