SFV Lounge: Ken is high mid. Kage is barely mid. F2P still coming

back dash and jump open you up to his K and P follow ups, again my point is exactly that Abigail is very good at making people panicking.

I mean… yes. But it really sounds like you are getting hit by gimmicks because you are panicking already, not because you can’t answer the EX run. If he’s doing the K follow up to catch a backdash that is being done preemptively, which is a giant and expensive gamble. The same goes with the P follow up, which is unsafe if not spaced, and is hit clips your jump or dash… he blows you full screen.

well yeah that’s what I’m saying, it’s easy to panic when Abigail runs towards you especially if he’s close enough for a command grab, that and his huge health+his insane damage allows him to get away with many gimmicks at the ultra gold level

Who do you play?

Juri, she actually got many answers to nitro blitz and most of his moveset

Just remeber now that his command grab has been assified, you get out of the threat range really quick. So there’s no reason to panic. He has to knock you down to really run mixups, and against Juri… that ain’t easy.

yeah in the end he isn’t nowhere as scary as Bison, he does still feel a bit like one of those characters (and there are many of them in SFV) where one player is having fun and the other is doing his best to stay alive.
At least he got a lot of unsafe stuff

Bison just ha a fuck ton of plus frames. Which would be fine, but he has so many ways to reset the pressure and start over… it’s frustrating.

Fuck bison… we need meterless DPs back, to this day I do not understand that change.

But that was the good part about SF4. The part I actually liked.

Yeah Bison is a great example of why no meterless DP’s is totally ass design. You can see glimpses of it when he fights Kolin and can’t mindlessly mash his buttons. Without a DP blowing him up requires specific knowledge on his frames and attention to the strings he uses.

People said that it was too strong but really the problem is that people don’t want to bait reversals.

Do we have any real explanation for removing meterless dps other than to appeal to whiny new players? I need a real explanation from a game designer perspective or someone with insight into the game design process.

It still boggles me why they took them out of the game.

I was about to point that out.

Beside you already explode for having a DP blocked, that was all they needed.

My best guess… is that pressure in this game is full of holes, but it works because there are very limited defensive options. Maybe they were worried that DPing everything was going to become the game?

I guess from that viewpoint, it makes sense to get rid of one tool rather than rebalance a whole bunch of buttons and normals to act a certain way.

Still lazy though.

I’m not sure I buy that guess though, as I’m not sure that’s DP would ever rise above a guess. It would only be an issue if you could consistently react with the DP.

is no character in the game able punish Birdie’s ex bullhead? It’s -5 but he pushes you so far you can’t connect anything, not even Sakura’s st.LK reach lol

Sakura can EX dp it.

Also, if he’s in VT1 the pushback is different, so st.LK seems to work there.

Key on his laugh as he charges up. Only forward jump the full charge. Block the pre full charge versions. Lvl 2 is plus 5 but I dont think hes in command grab range. Lvl 1 is -2 so its your turn.
