They got taken for a few reasons. Short answer is the devs dont want meterless stuff invincible on frame 1.
Long answer involves multiple wake up timings, no safe jumps because there arent many hard knockdowns, few true block strings, and limited throw range. Offense is actually bad compared to any other sf game. It appears strong in this game because there isnt anything available for defense and vtriggers make characters dumb for 20ish seconds every round.

Yeah. I actually read those patch notes the other day. I am way too late to this party.
Taking out meterless invincible reversals was for the best. Problem with bison is that he has a 3 frame normal. Shotos could contest him upclose in s1 but now that’s out of the question.

Yes, leaving meterless aggression disproportionately better than a few defensive options definitely improved the game.

meterless aggression isnt really that powerful. And meter less invincible reversals isnt exactly a universal special amongst the cast. On the other hand v reversal or critical art (except for vega) is. What you want is a new defensive mechanic. The question is whether certain characters (cammy/ryu/ken) having this special is fair relative to the gameplay design and the design of the rest of the cast.
