SFV Lounge: Ken is high mid. Kage is barely mid. F2P still coming

On paper i I think I prefer how Capcom balances their game. But it’s hard for me to really be happy with SFV balance when all 3 characters I like and have put time into got clapped in Season 1 and basically never recovered.

Still nothing from Capcom? I’m gonna hide myself 'til something happens.

People acting like it’s been 6 months when it’s only barely been one, and some places like Eventurds capitalizing on the rampant anxiety to meet its need for clicks.

Therein lies the fundamental problem with the modern DLC drip model. It raises a generation of addicts who need their fix too frequently.

I think we kinda knew at the end of CPT that the next piece of news is probably going to come at the beginning of CPT 2019. If we don’t get shit by then, maybe then we can start to worry a bit.

@Daemos

I really dislike eventhubs and a lot of the people who make the articles, most of them are clickbait and made by people who pretend they understand the game better then they actually do.

But i’ve seen @Phantom_Miria troll a few people there or get in a few arguments so at least the SRK community stands victorious against eventscrubs.

I’m not really much worried. Other new shit is coming out that I might actually play for once so that’s a nice holdover to pass time for news.

As for Capcom specifically, I mean the game is at a point now where we have 35 characters when it launched with 16. Basically doubling the paltry number of characters the game launched with for 60 bucks. Can’t complain and some games like Guilty Gear have ended with less playable characters than that. Ultra SFIV ended with 44 characters so SFV would pretty much have about the same amount of characters if it’s DLC rollout lasted until the end of 2020 like they have been saying.

I have less of a horse in the race in general since the only 2 characters that I really care about playing are already in the game and everything else is just gravy at this point. If I get Viper I get Viper, but Ibuki and Falke are plenty fine for me so far. The rest of the DLC is more about the other people missing their favorite or IT character that they’re looking for. We’re not getting better netcode and the game gameplay is only going to get refined in tiny bits at this point unless they throw in second supers or 3rd VTs.

The arcade cab AE likely has a toll on investment also as it was said to have also been for SFIV. The fact that they actually went through with it is great for the Asian scene so they can be in their prime environment, but I’m sure it came at a cost. Getting the game a spot in the arcades is still worth it for overall exposure in the scene and giving some novelty arcades in the US some cabs.

If you win, I’ll give you a title.

Hmm…

The Big Fish would probably be a fun one.

Get it if you have proof of yourself winning a local. Are they streaming it?

I think it’s good that eventhubs wrote something about Capcom’s silence. I mean we complain a lot over here but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter at all because nobody important is going to read it. On the other hand I’m pretty sure some Capcom employees browse eventhubs from time to time. They have more reach, like it or not.

I also don’t think it’s an instant gratification issue. We’re just used to better things. So far Capcom improved their communication with every season and S3 was spot on with announcing everyone at the same time so you simultaneously knew who’d come out but there’d also be a bit of a surprise when they first showed gameplay.

S4, in contrast, is just laughably bad from a PR standpoint. So bad in fact that even calling it a ‘season’ at this moment feels like overselling it.

I just love the hype and buzz surrounding new characters. It’s a chance to see things new or unexpected. I have little interest in high level SFV since I don’t care about any of the characters being played (Bonchan Sagat has my interest though). It’s one of the few times I can get hype.

Also none of the DLC characters have really been able to hold my attention longer than a week. Can’t really fault Capcom since even I’m not sure what I’m looking for. So in that way I feel kind of left out.

It just feels strange coming from Ultra where there was like 5+ characters I enjoyed dicking around with, but SFV is approaching the same ballpark in roster size but I’m interested in less characters. Especially since SFV characters are way easier to pick up.

Oh snap, I have medals in my emojis. Can give you guys medals.

Ooh. I know what we can do! Need some volunteers.

What are we volunteering for? I’m free pretty much all day.

Cool

I’ve seen the beta gameplay, I love mk games so I’m really hoping mk11 is good and stays strong competitively at events. I think it can use a bit more speed as I think it looks a little slow, plus I’ve read that dashes are almost useless. I’m staying positive though.
