SFV Lounge: It was coming and it CAME HOME. Ono is your Evo 2018 Chamion

What?

So you’re saying hey it’s bad let’s leave it that way because it’s just part of the game now? Fuck no, fix the sloppiness, I’m not going to get complacent with something that ruins a large aspect of the game.

That’s exactly what I’m saying. Leave it as it is. If I want good neutral, I’ll play other SFs.

To fix SFV right now would be to basically replace the entire game because the very root of its issues are down to the very core of the game. Capcom isn’t going to do that. Almost no developer is willing to make that big of an outright change. So I’d rather it evolve around the issues it does has than pretend it’s something it’s not.

If the neutral is an issue, well we still have Super Turbo. We still have Alpha 2. I’d rather SFV keep its identity, even if its ultimately a shitty one.

You can laugh at me all you want. I imagine everyone will consider me a joke after these posts, it’s whatever at this point.

Instead of holding out hope for SFV to turn into something completely different, people either need to accept what it is a shitty game that can kill some time, or if it’s too shitty for you, move on to literally the other boatload of FGs on the market that are easily accessible and played at this very moment. Trying to come up with all these dream scenarios to “salvage” SFV are exactly that. Dreams, not reality.

SFV: Stockholm Syndrome Edition

People get used to the shit and abuse this game throws out that they accept it. Also,

The game’s identity is shit so it should stay shit.

You people are fucking funny.

If a game is shit, then it should stay shit. Turning a shit game mediocre doesn’t make it any less inferior to what we already have. Or is player base the only reason to play a FG anymore?

At the very least I’m the one with the balls to admit I’m perfectly fine playing a shitty game with no hope of it improving. I don’t have to make excuses as to why I continue to play it because “well it’s all we have” or “it’s as close to another game as I could get”.

I think isn’t bad to ask less brainless abusable moves, especially if they’re too good at the end of the day. CCs can turn the table in SFV, there’s no reason why some of’em are safe or even +oB then. EX godspeed moves like Urien EX Shoulder promote dumb play where the abuser can shot that without thinking about risks.

I’m ok with an offense-oriented game, but I would love to see rewarded the better offenders rather than who has the most broken tools. There’s no skill/brain cells activation to abuse some moves in SFV, especially those who are able to skip the neutral. CCs during footsies aren’t enough? Capcom partially fixed the UKD issue with USF4 so better later than never.

We ain’t talking about guts, SFV doesn’t need to be saved, but isn’t too late to improve it.

If that’s the hill you want to die on, fine by me.

Braindead moves to go in on literally exist in every SF game going as far back as Super Turbo. The only difference is that instead of only one or two characters having them, more characters in this game do. Obviously most consider that a downside, it should be limited. Me, I think if you’re going to give a stupid tool to one character, more characters should have them.

Yep, I’m right here, enjoying the view. I play shitty games all the time, watch plenty of shitty movies. I don’t make any excuses for what they are, nor any excuses for why I enjoy them.

Uh, does anyone know how to go back to regular shoryuken? I’m stuck on dark even after toggling the options in the side bar…

The problem here is we ain’t in the 90s no more, people don’t have to deal with it by force. Capcom promised a balanced game overall, but we’re far from it. Giving braindead moves to all the characters can make everything more messy than it is, at least these braindead moves don’t need to be that strong. I understand your thoughts, but you have to understand even who wants a better product. Personally I think limiting the randomness factor in the game can help. SFV is dry if we consider mechanics, with that in mind even a move who would have been mediocre at best in previous titles becomes OP here. Why I can say to a Chunk player to deal with it after being clipped by +oB CC or a EX Shoulder into Aegis into dead?

Go to the 3 lines at the side of your profile pic on top right and select Shoryuken at the end of the list.

Edit: uh, I’m not able to switch even myself anymore.

Except it isn’t just the 90s SF games that have this. 90s, 2000s, 2010s. Again, this is nothing new. Now in fairness, you simply don’t want them in the game regardless and that’s fine. And who knows, maybe it would make a better product but it’s really only tip of the iceberg.

My thing is that in order to truly turn SFV into a “good” game, its entire identity would have to change. Like I said, the very core of the game is flawed right down to the V-System’s existence. Ultimately, I think the amount of changes that would be necessary to fix SFV, would simply be better spent on making an entirely new game and just accepting that SFV was a failure.

Can we get a mod to fix this? It’s such an eyesore for me.

Season 1 > Season 3 > Season 2

Combine Season 1 and Season 3 and add SF4 Footsies ;^)

Yeah I don’t seem to be able to switch the theme myself either. I prefer Dark Mode, but I can see how immensely annoying this would be. When the hell did this happen?

I accidently posted dis in the story thread

also a link to a story about a top smasher being accused of pedophilia/sexual assault but he will attempt to sue any venue that bars him from entering a tournament, but I am leaving that one story thread exclusive to ammend for my mis-post mistake!

The fact that you have a significant number of pro players flat-out saying that the game sucks tells you how bad it is from a competitive standpoint. Ever heard a pro ranting how ST or IV are flawed to the core and the developers got everything wrong? Even 3S wasn’t as contentious as the train wreck that is SFV.

SF4, yes…for multiple years in fact. If you went a week without someone talking about how SF4 was ass then it was a slow week.

Super Turbo being before the age of the Internet, still one of the earlier FGs and a genuinely good game, no shit it’s not going to get any of that stigma.
