This is a fantastic breakdown and as a PC player I’m thinking maybe I should only search for PC players. Usually not too big a deal but at least I’ll know to look out for the increased input lag in the next round, so frustrating to deal with wifi warriors.
I wasn’t being a smart-ass. I’ve actually grabbed Urien out of his EX Tackle liek 6 times now since playing. It’s really fucking hilarious.
You know what’s not funny. Grabbing Juri out of her EX move :^(
TBH, Urien isn’t the bully he used to be. Guile, Menat and Necalli are freakin’ rude
Little update on the Cody trigger situation from my perspective.
Trigger 2 feels like the easiest to use, but that does not mean it gets instant results. Sure we’ve seen the automattock setups by now, but people are already figuring it out, and you’ve still got to deal with yolo play when they don’t know what’s going on. Trigger 2 is in a weird spot right now when it comes to shared knowledge, but it’s a great comeback trigger and probably your best bet against Guile, permitted you can anti-zone relatively well.
Trigger 1 feels very on-the-fly, if they make space you can ditch the knife to get your fireballs back and you have a backup. This switch-up mechanic feels very intuitive, and you can walk them to the corner with it while maintaining full screen pressure. Once you’re done you can keep them there with fireballs and your busted v-skill.
It’s the little things that make the difference, but not being able to ditch the pipe after trigger can be killing in certain matchups. You don’t want to eat fireballs just to land that st.HP (ob or oh doesn’t even matter anymore), just so you can counterzone. Conversely, while the knife has great framedata, the reward isn’t as great, but if you have a read on the opponent you can really start making them feel uncomfortable.
Also, you can kind of go ham with the pipe cancel into HK+HP, wether it’s a Ruffian or what have you to make it safe, but if they’re in full block mode, there’s very little reward to be found. If anything that will be the meta after a few months with the pipe, throwing out specials, making them safe, until the opportunity for the command grab arises.
I’m old and I can’t remember things. What characters used to demolish Guile? SFV included.
In SF4 Viper used to own him. It was actually funny watching him try and zone her out when she had a ground pound into full screen jump with ambiguous burn kicks.
Tell that to Mena.
You’re right, Necalli is a simple and straightforward character, his game play rewards people who can’t play footsies and they don’t want to learn them. The seismos and the jump ins are there to force your way in alongside 5 Crush Counters, a divekick and dashing in VT state. Once you’re in the opponent need to deal with your +oB normals and the rest of the command grab. Phenom is just so good at conditioning his opponents doing unexpected things 24/7. Necalli has 1000hp, 2 3f buttons and a dp, enough for taking risks. When the opponent know how to play footsies dealing the right amount of damage Necalli becomes ineffective.
Oh yeah np I was just explaining what I had learned.
It’s fast enough to use in neutral and if people are sleeping/scared you’ll get it in before they counter poke. With that said, it’s overall better for pressure than neutral. Stuff that’s used in neutral like Rog’s EX dash straight is only plus 1. If you really need to close the gap and know a projectile wont be out it’s not bad to throw at random, but it’s really just a way to cancel your s.LK’s into something that keeps you at plus 3 and in throw range. It’s also the only VTCable zonk (first hit) so it’s important to get the party started.

Did some more casual matches. Starting to screw up my oki off zonks and CC sweeps into command grab slightly less. s.MK link to super feels so good. Definitely keeping that on hand once i have super since that shit is plus 3 on block so they have to hold and you can just throw out s.LK after to fish counter hits and stay plus if blocked. I’m getting the timing for the just frame on command grab pretty consistent now. I dont look for anything visually ATM, just know in my gut where the just frame is usually and getting it out pretty consistent. I’m sure with nerves I’ll drop some more, but so far so good.
Can’t cancel into pipe swing on block from specials
It would not really matter even on PC vs PC, you can still get one-sided rollback even with that is set in place.
We are two and a half years in and nothing changed about this.
Fuck crows, they opened my garbage outside
and “valet” garbage collectors didn’t take my garbage REEEEEEEEEEE
I’m open hand slappin the next crow I see, they don’t even fly away when you get close to em’ I"M THROWIN HANDS
Online connections were straight doo-doo last night. Way too much ban hammering. Anyone else have similar issues?
I will see it tonight how they will be on my end. I need 20 ranked wins for that CPT FM mission.
Sunday the connections were mostly miserable, but it was the weekend, so it is par of the course.
I finished up the CPT mission during CEO Sunday night. Connections were mostly solid. Maybe it’s a weekday thing where I get lots of matches with folks outside the States, which are usually the worst. Hard to say.
This game online switches between joy and mental torture. Holy fuck.
I dipped during CEO and fell asleep during GF’s. Ibuki a slut but props to Yukimuradon.
I want to hate Cammy so much but she was my first and you can never forget your first time.
Cody is fun but I’m a pleb so I can’t use him.
I still hate this game
I still love this game
D.Dark still Master
I’m still not Master
Happy 4th (for you overseas ass niggas)
Everyone where I live complaining it’s going to be too hot to bbq outside. Another suburban MD / DC 4th.
