Whenever I watch good tournaments of SFV, it just makes the desire to improve and become really good burn even harder than usual. Awareness is what I’m currently working on. I need to have the type of awareness to know when and how I can utilize everything in my arsenal. We’re all human, so it’s not possible to know the appropriate use of every option all the time. I believe it’s something you can gradually improve upon. It just takes time.

Does this make sense? Give a move near unreactable startup, plus on block, additional damage and setup potential after hit, awesome range, and little to no risk for doing it whatsoever. Then make it cost one ex bar to “balance it”. So basically you can break all skill involved in Street Fighter for one ex bar.
Cus that’s what ex divekick and kunai are to me. Throw em out willy nilly to instantly shift control in your favor, and they only fail if your opponent is psychic or if you are a one trick pony.

Most characters have ex moves like that though. Capcom makes sure if you spend a bar you’re going to get something cheap.

Most characters have EX moves that bypass neutral that easily? What’s Alex’s, Ryu’s, Laura’s, R.Mika’s, F.A.N.G’s and Chun-Li Then?
When I watch characters like Urien, Birdie, Ibuki, Akuma and Cammy, they all possess the ability to just throw something out and get the party started. Even with the greatest of reactions you’d be hard pressed to stuff the latter’s EX moves. Factor in how much you need to focus on the ground game at high level, and it’s easy to see why those moves are so good.
Can you reliably react to dash, jump (normal), jump (arc changing special) and footsies? Seems unlikely. Watching the GF was just upsetting, you can’t base SFV on footsies alone. Xiao Hai was firmly outclassed due to the volatile nature of the game. The last round was pretty hard to stomach also.
