-Shine is 100% Ibuki now
-Jiewa finally said fuck Ken and went Akuma
-Punk 33 with Karin
-Fuudo is still taking the OG Japanese approach and he’ll never drop R. Mika EVER.
But they also have Mena as Birdie and I heard he used his Fraud Akuma yesterday.
Edit: I missed the CVS2 tournament And it seems like Raven and Johnny are still Top Tier? A Chipp player got third
damn so many people i expected to make top 8 got eliminated early, this game is very unforgiving. also there’s something about this game that prevents low/mid tier characters from competing against the top. like i remember we had low and mid tier heroes beating top players in the sf4 days with bad characters, now it just feels impossible if you don’t have an unga v-trigger and a 3 framer
Neutral space control, forcing your opponent to adapt to your game or both, that’s the meta now. A 3f isn’t necessary if you can control the neutral better than most of the cast (Guile) or doing so without the necessity of a reversal (Menat). You can impose your game on the opponent bypassing their neutral and make them dealing with guessing (Ibuki, Cammy, even Mika to a certain degree). Or just use Akuma. All of these characters have a V-System able to enhance their game or part of it better than the others. Characters lower on the tier list can have something good also, but not at that level, using one of the actual top tiers is the best way to be consistent, the hardest thing to do in SFV. One of the main traits of the game itself (all different V abilities and purposes) is also the reason why a good balance it’s like believing in unicorns. Fang or Vega V-Systems aren’t good like Ibuki, Guile or Akuma and without a buff on them they’re doomed.
i worded what i said badly, what im trying to say is that its a lot harder to win matches in this game with a low tier character compared to older Streetfighter games. In Streetfighter 3 for example the shittiest character in the game could fight the top tiers if they played Super on point with the right reads and guesses whilst in this game cammy, akuma, guile and others can make you their bitch while forcing you to play their game
Third Strike is a different animal. The mechanics of the game made it so that way every character could have a chance no matter how bad they were.
SFV has much more compressed character tiers. FANG is not nearly as bad a character compared to Ibuki, as Twelve was to Chun-Li. But parry is the great equalizer. Third Strike isn’t a math equation like most SF games, it’s a game of pure intuition.
Yeah, that’s why I said the V-System created different fields/levels. In SFV a low tier can compete with a top if the player knows the MU and he’s skilled. The problems comes when is VT time, often the character with a better VT wins. It’s like a man with a rifle duelling against one with a handgun, when that happens the latter is a dead man.
