Terry got changed up into a girl and will appear in SNK Heroines. He (or she I guess in this case) is the last character in SNKH’s roster. No DLC plans have been announced so it’s unknown if they’ll add anybody else down the line
BBTAG’s remaining 9 DLC characters are coming out tomorrow. They’re also adding guest characters from a completely different series which has something to do with the color Dark Purple. Considering the leaks - it’s probably Senran Kagura
Fighting EX Layer is getting not only Pullum Purna and Vulcano Rosso, but also Sharon and Area. Pullum and Rosso will be free for everyone, while Sharon and Area might be paid. It was also confirmed that Terry Bogard will become a guest character
Arc System Works is preparing its own Pro Tour which will include BlazBlue Central Fiction, Xrd Rev2, and BBTAG. The total prize pot is 100k$, the first event is scheduled for this November, and the Tour will run for the entirety/majority of 2019. Big events like EVO and EVO Japan will be included, with finals taking place in Los Angeles. They also teased that Daisuke Ishiwatari is in the ArcSys HQ and is working on something Guilty Gear related. At the moment it’s unknown if it’s a whole new game or a new revision of Xrd, but chances are it’s indeed the next GG. The ArcSys president also dropped that “ASW is Guts”, dunno what that means
What’s to come:
Namco will probably announce the release dates for Base Goku, Base Vegeta and the post-EVO balance patch. Approximate date is late August, but would be cool if they dropped that earlier (I think Max said it’s supposed to be Mid-August even)
Capcom will show the reveal trailer for SFV’s latest character, G, along with his costumes and a release date. Ono teased on Twitter that “Blanka’s pockets are about to be torn”, implying it’s something more than just G. Maybe it’s that Darkstalkers thing Ono teased back at Comic Con a couple of weeks ago?
Namco is also rumored to show new character(s) for Tekken 7 and/or Soulcalibur VI. No idea who they might be, but two things are for sure: Tekken 7’s reveal will be a guest char, and SC6’s reveal will be a series veteran (there’s ~9 spots left on the base roster). Harada also hinted that he wanted Kazuma Kiryu to be added into T7’s roster, so who knows
DefJam’s official Twitter accounted recently has posted something cryptic, implying there might be a new DefJam title. They did that precisely shortly before EVO, which further hints at a reveal there. No further info is available
Rising Thunder’s devs said that they’re working on something and will show it when the time is right, and that line was dropped back at the end of 2017 when the F2P version of RT was released. We’ve been hearing rumors of them working on a League of Legends based fighter for a long time now, so… maybe we’ll see it today? At least a teaser?
Tekken x Street Fighter is probably still in the dev limbo, I don’t expect to see anything on it
Injustice 2’s Top-8 yesterday came and went, Ed Boon isn’t at the event, which means MK11 will probably skip out on EVO as well. Injustice Pro Series finals should be later this year in either September or October, and there was a leak that MK11 will be officially revealed in October (though it was since removed). No NRS game here either
Missed road to SFV top8. Having been utterly turned off by the Akuma fanboyism from developers, seeing Tokido undefeated is both expected and disappointing. Last time I was paying attention his st. mk got slightly nerfed but is Akuma that insane or does Tokido has some merit in this?
What’s broken about Bardock in DBFZ? Looks like he’s the new cell. Bardock/Cell/Vegeta since to be the new Sentinel/Storm/(your choice between Psylock/CapCom/Cyclops). At this point I root for Sonic Fox but hope his bitch tendencies towards Go1 doesn’t show up this time.
After being on a forum that censors swear words it’s refreshing to return to SRK.
Has any scene on the main stage at Evo been this fucking stale? Majors for this game are basically just paychecks for the same 8 people year after year. How is this exciting for anyone anymore?
BTW this isn’t Jin trolling. There’s this weird Smash scene thing where they legitimately treat it in an eSporty way the way eSport people want the players treated. Any tournament where the top players don’t win is trash. If a player misses the tournament, the tournament is automatically shit. And…its really just a weird community all around.
All in all they seem to absolutely hate upsets with a passion and in the sm4sh side they hate well just everything really.
Smash is surprisingly fun. I mean I’m watching a fluffy Pokémon and a gruff bounty hunter/race driver jump and dash around and occasionally hit the other dude and send them flying while hoping they fall into the abyss.
