The event deserved to be disrespected. The narrative was already “They got carried by Bayo to Grand Finals, they didn’t earn anything”. They were given that narrative before they even played their first game. What’s the point in fighting for the honor of winning EVO when any accomplishment is just gonna be shat on anyway by the community and the crowd?
If anything, this is exactly what the Smash community deserves. They want to act like children for people playing a character that’s legal that gives them the best chance to win? Then they deserve to be treated like children by having to sit through that.

I kept a eye on numbers because I like knowing that stuff. SFV broke over 100k with with the combined official Twitch and YT streams + restreams. Pretty nice milestone because I think that’s the first time that has happened since USF4’s final year.
It kind of sucks that we can’t just have everything on one platform so it’d be easier to keep track of but that’s the way it is now.
