I tested Ed yesterday to get accustomed to his oki and meaties and such. I am amazed they let him get oki from Ex psycho upper. It already send you flying almost half of the stage away and he still get to dash and meaty even back rise.
Main character. Everybody plays him. Its boring to fight Ryu after Ryu after Ryu. Or so the complaints went.
I thought he was fine the way he was in s1. A little bit weak until he got his meters, then i needed to change my approach and aggression. Once his meters were spent, i could go after him with all the prejudice i could muster. But i only ever got up to ultra plat b4 i quit, so it might have been a different story for players above that ranking.
People can’t really stand having Ryu mid-tier, dunno why. If someone got drunk at Capcom and decide to release Evil Ryu for S4 all these ‘buff Roo’ talks will ends in an heartbeat.
I remember when Evil Ryu came out. I switched from Ryu to Evil Ryu immediately in AE and never looked back. I thought a lot of Ryu players would do the same. He had more moves, a nice fat BnB combo, and that edgy Super Saiyan look. But that didn’t really happen. Ryu was still way more common than Evil Ryu.
But if Evil Ryu were to come back to SFV, I hope it happens as a separate character. I don’t want Evil Ryu as a VT even if they were to introduce another one to the game. Evil Ryu is like an excuse to make Ryu creative since they will never do that with regular Ryu.
They could’ve given Ryu plenty (as evidenced by that combo video from the beta), they just chose not to.
Which is the story of this game really. “Hey we could’ve done all these things to make it great but we decided not to do so.” Thanks capcom, 'ppreciate it.
I would much rather they fix the existing Ryu than waste a character slot on a boring clone character while leaving people who just want to play Ryu in the dust.
I don’t care how flashy E.Ryu’s combos are, he’s still Ryu 2.0 more than a unique character. there are so many possibilities for new characters they could add or old characters that could be adapted to V in a cool way, but instead people want them to bring back the least original shoto out there? I don’t get it.
Simply I don’t get it what kind of Ryu Capcom want for SFV, he looks more similar to what he was in SF3. Looking at the best Ryus around I’ve noticed how they can get wins going full ham more than a more cerebral footsies game. Personally I don’t care about him, a strong Ryu didn’t stopped people from complaining even in S1.
