Yang is cool. I like both of the twins TBH. We were playing SF4 last tuesday so its the most recent example of those shenanigans I had on deck.

The funniest thing is that the +1 Lunge punch that broke armor was like the bottom of the barrel offender. Target combos that were safe on block and built half a block of meter, palms building massive meter and then having hitboxes larger than Gief’s body, hilarous frame data all over the place.
I remember reading the changes from AE to 2012 for Yun and Yang and it looking like a massacre.
Did the 3 frame buffer on normals make this game too predictable when combined with the streamlined normals?

Momochi was the king of making you afraid of ever pressing a button even when he was negative. You just knew a Zonk was coming behind every one of those buttons.
Karin players hardly ever do -2 shoulder into ex.dp - well the decent ones don’t anyway. It’s a high risk/low reward gamble that’s dumb 95% of the time. Yeah, why would I ever burn meter to get CC’d on a 900 health character…great idea!
EX zonk was just a beast. That thing did everything.

A friend of mine is a master of doing EX Dp with Necalli after a blocked st.HK, even if I said to him that’s stupid he can’t stop doing it. Reason? People don’t think he has room to do it and he clipped niggas with that 90% of the time. When the Disc was -4 oB for a bit in early S2 he dp’ed even after that.
No mercy for people who get clipped by that, but if someone can just think on a scrub tactic like that means it’s the game who allows that. SFV is a turn based game and stealing turns means staying on offense which is better here. Since it’s possible there’s no reason to complain now, like @HeavensCloud said that tactic with Karin after a blocked shoulder was there since day one and nobody is going to press a button when she has EX meter stocked. Simple as that.
SF4 Cody is ingrained in my muscle memory forever it seems. Probably doesn’t help that I’ve been messing around with Alpha 3 Cody as well that’s caused me to go for old moves that don’t exist anymore.
Dumb things I’ve done while playing SFV Cody:
- Trying to AA with b+mp and st.rh
- Doing his criminal upper super with qcb
- Holding down buttons after getting knocked down, only to release when I wake up and get meatied.
This has nothing to do with old Cody but was in a close match with a Ken player and landed ex. ruffian with the VT2 pipe, only the trigger had expired but visually because he was holding the pipe I thought it was still active. So during the ex ruffian kick I hit gentle swing and instead of dealing the final blow my character taunted and the Ken player woke up and killed me…
I’m surprised the CC universal change was never brought up in @Pertho and I guess @Skiegh 's defense.
With @DevilJin_01 's comment, I’d say that it’s probably more prominent due to the CC scaling change (and in Rashid’s case, either balanced out or better due to this). It made taking DP offensive challenges in -2 situations less risky than it was before. Even the CH substitution can’t really justify it, not only is (in most cases) it less damaging than early season CC combos, but V-Gauge doesn’t build up.
Edit: The Karin EX DP challenge after Shoulder was done a few times in the past, but I can partially agree that it wasn’t common. Again, it wasn’t necessary. The damage reward, in most cases, for punishing these with the preferred combo of choice back then was a lot higher compared to now. You wouldn’t see Cammy take many challenges for this back then either for the same reason, and both stamina values for Cammy and Karin are low.
I feel bad for my boo Karin, all of her “gimmicks” are fraud as fuck now… the only thing she has going for her is footsies, she’s not even near top damage
Just give Karin her own Necalli Super Saiyan mode where she calls in her ancestors since she does come from some type of tekken level world respected lineage
