Good points. I wouldn’t be surprised if they started on SF6 after S3 was announced. I remember having the impression when it was revealed that they were mostly done with it, just polishing the characters and waiting to be released in two month increments (and then they surprised us with G and Sagat at the same time).
S4 had little work for them to do and I suspect S5 will be the same.
You may be right the SF6 won’t come out in late 2020/early 2021, but I do suspect it will be ass at launch. Capcom has learned they have 2-3 years to make it good. I mean, haven’t they been doing that since SF2 anyway? To clarify, I’m not talking down on base SF2, but there were no expectations for it beforehand. It was revolutionary and they made it better as time went on. SFV was definitely their worst SF launch, and I hope they learned their lesson, but am doubtful.
Evo reveal , whatever it is, is destined to be a disappointment. They just left people out in the cold hoping for scraps for too long.
If it’s SF6 it’s still going to be too far off. If it’s SFV++ it’s still going to feel way fucking late. If it’s anything less than those two options, well good luck with that Capcom.

The unrealistic expectation is the remainder of Season 4 + Story Mode chapter 2 + some additional stages and costumes
The realistic expectation is 2-3 characters + maybe a new stage
The Capcom.sys expectation is a montage of content will be releasing over the next few months

I’m still holding out that it’s not a mainline SF game announcement. Gimme Rival Schools. Gimme Darkstalkers. Gimme a new vs game. I don’t think they’d put out SF6 this generation, so gimme something that’s got a ton of style and fun (and probably broken, but in the good way).
Ono teased Darkstalkers (again) last year sometime in Fall
Itsuno has began working on a new project basically right after DMCV, but it is presumed to be either Dragon’s Dogma 2 or a new Rival Schools, and DD2 is much more likely if we’re being honest
I’m holding out hope for a CVS3 in this timeline of Anime domination, but SNK kinda have their hands full with SamSho and KOF15, and it’s not like Capcom needs exposure
It’s definitely not Tekken x Street Fighter because that project has been frozen years ago, Tekken 7 is still going strong, we’d probably get a Tekken Tag Tournament 3 before a crossover, and Bandai/Harada recently made a statement that it’s harder to justify the need to even make TKxSF considering how successful T7 is
Any idea of Marvel ever collaborating with Capcom again you might as well forget about right this instant
Koei Tecmo has no use for collaborating with Capcom besides some costumes, but that’s not an EVO-worthy announcement
ArcSys have a crapton of projects of their own and all their latest games are seemingly there just to counter Capcom’s disappointments (e.g. MVCI), so no “OMG SF ALPHA WITH XRD VISUALS”

I really don’t want to see any info about SF6 until at the very least near the end of 2022, I want SFV to be improved but most of all I want SF6 to be a complete quality product at launch and not a hot mess like SFV was.

Here’s my view on this.
I get enjoyment out of SFV,but overall for me this is not a great game, far from it.Would i like to see more content for SFV ? Yes,i would. But overall it’s just gonna be attempts to fix a product i am already not very fond of.
So,i’m in the camp of easing up on content for SFV and focusing on SF6.
I want SF6 to be a great game.Crazy roster,unlockable vanity items, 3d model viewer, story.The complete package.
If a game like that means SFV needs to hit the backburner then i’m more then ok with it.Game has been out since 2016,i got my playtime out of it.

The best guess for Evo reveal is SF6.
If, and that’s a huge if, it’s something for V, it won’t come this year. Not two thirds into the CPT.
They ain’t revealing no SFVI at Evo. Something like that would be more likely to be announced at Capcom Cup. I doubt it’ll be announced this yr.

Revealing new game would prolly hurt the CPT cause you have a large pool of players acknowledge the games coming to an end and stop caring.
