Yeah the PS1 era of Capcom fighters were rough in various ways but at least playable for me at the time. The Vs games were a travesty. I played MSH vs SF on PS1 and had the same experience.

One of the reasons the Dreamcast port of MvC2 stands out so much is because it was the first time you got an “arcade perfect” port without any goofy RAM carts or compromises. Not sure if it actually is perfect but it was more than enough for me to bang away at for years.

Actually, that is one other import memory: importing Japanese MvC2 for DC and downloading a fully unlocked save file to my VMU.

People are apparently upset that the new character has a bunch of random elements and I can only laugh in Faust secondary.

Come to think of it, we don’t have a poll for lol Mahvel.

You know, I think a lot of the japanese players seem to enjoy this game online more is because they don’t have the shit ass internet experience this good.

Japanese Netcode Privilege is too strong.

Last I heard of TxSF, wasn’t it only 15% into the development cycle AND it was being suspended? That would be pretty shocking to see some sort of announcement regarding Bamco and Capcom.

Akuma player whiffs a MP DP.

Walk forward to punish it with cr.mk xx arrow.

Cr.mk goes through his front leg into the the space in between both legs and doesn’t register a hit.

This is the power of SF5.

Theres no way SF6 happens later than 2021, and probably like feb-march. Its a strong contender for PS5 launch window release.

SF6 is gonna put the bullet in the back of the head of V just like V did 4.

They are almost certainly prototyping it/early design stages already, just like they were with V when they were putting out Ultra SF4.

So just 2 years to get to Ultimate Grandmaster then…

As far as I know, DC’s MVC2 was arcade perfect. Sega developed the board for the arcade and the DC game is a direct port from that.

That board is actually the reason MAME/fightcade for some reason can’t run MVC2 well. Seems to run MVC1 fine and I don’t know what changed, but the DC version of MVC2 is pretty much the best you could ask for at home… Ignoring the version that was re-released on PS3/XB360 with better online options, but they pulled that from online stores and seems really hard to find these days.

Naomi boards allowed games to use 3D backgrounds and a bunch of technical stuff I have 0 knowledge of. @d3v probably knows better on that end.

Also the MvC2 DC port isn’t arcade perfect. It is hella close though. From what I heard some years ago, there are combos that deal more damage on arcade than they do in DC.

My college roommate had the opposite reaction when I booted up my imported Saturn copy. Dude was talking all kinds of shit about my Saturn. I just booted up the game and made him apologize before he could play it.

Good to know. Thanks for the correction!

Regarding the 3D backgrounds, I downloaded a DC emulator and MVC2 recently and the background was rendered and looked like it could be from a brand new game, which unfortunately, made the sprites look like ass in comparison.

Naomi/DC is actually built around 3D, unlike the Saturn.

DC MvC2 has different damage settings in general. Can’t play Pinoy Mahvell (level 1 arcade damage and god tier Iron Man) on DC.
